PondHunter Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 Hello from Auburn! My name is Steve and I am just north of Ft Wayne. The clear lakes up here are fantastic. I primarily fish for Bass, but have accumulated rods and reels for Pike and Musky as well. When I worked in Indianapolis I used to fish in a creek near Brownburg and there were LM and SM Bass in it, and some good sized Green Sunfish. Would love to go to Patoka, Monroe, and Salamonie also. There is alot of good fishing in this state. Quote
deadeye32. Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Thought I would let you guys know a report from waveland over the weekend. We got out there in the morning at about 8:30, water temp was still only 47 in the back of the creeks, but we decided to try rattle traps, spinnerbaits ext. with out a bite. a few other guys we knew were out there and didnt even get a nibble. at about noon, I decided to put on a custom homemade craw and drag it in 12 ft. of water when I feel tap tap tap. Set the hook and I catch one that goes 6.3 on the digi. I always looked at waveland as a numbers lake, but there are big ones there too. I will post pics as soon as I get them. Good luck, Deadeye32 Quote
J_pontius Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Nice one deadeye! 6.3 already! FYI, to all the Indy guys, The White River Bass Master open team tournament is this weekend. Last year there was about 30 boats I beleive and it was spittin snow. http://www.whiteriverbass.com/Tournament_Flyers/2009-03-21_Cabin_Fever_Open.doc Quote
Jay_G Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 I live in Linton and fish those pits aroud here daily. Placed 2nd on a tournament at Shakamak last weekend. Caught about 25 bass, most were in the slot. 1st place had 17.13 which is a pretty heavy bag for Shakamak. Quote
deadeye32. Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 congrats on the second place finish. Wow. 17lb bag will be good just about anywhere around here. Just out of curiosity, what stage were most of the fish in last weekend. Did you happen to catch them shallow? Quote
A-Flat Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 Hello from Indianapolis. My name is Al Hopkins, fish the BFL pretty regularly as a co-angler on the Hoosier and Buckeye divisions. Also own a balsa crankbait company called Adrenaline Custom Lures. Spend alot of time on the Ohio River and love it, the Buckeye lakes are pretty freindly also. The river has treated me pretty good for the last couple of years lets hope it does me well again. Would love to win AOY of the year on the BFL, got close one year and have been hungry since. > Quote
SuperNewbie Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 does anyone know of a club in my area? preferably one that is kid friendly? (emphasis on the kid friendly part my parents are probably going to read this post tonight) :-/ Quote
nashontheriver Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 hi. i'm from Muncie in central IN. you probably guessed from my SN that i fish the river a lot. White river through deleware county mostly. I also like Summit lake near New Castle. I saw a couple of you said you fish Praire Creek...i've been there lots of times with very low success. any tips? i have a canoe and am looking for a nice little boat with a trolling motor. i got really into fishing this year and i can't wait for spring! Sherlock 60 Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 Nashontheriver - I live in Anderson. What works best for you on the Mighty White River? Quote
nashontheriver Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 i like spinner baits (white) with 2 blades. also, plastic zoom worms with the "swim type" tail with no weight. these probably aren't the best bet, but they have worked ok for me. the little green tubes with the neon green tails and a hook straight down through the top will catch blue gill like crazy in mid summer. do you have any suggestions? TheOriginalFishaholic Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 Hello from NW Indiana...we moved here (Valpo area) a little over a year ago.Any suggestions on decent water to fish on up here? Or, how about decent day trips to bigger waters? NW Indiana here too...non-boater...here's my pics for best places to fish in this neck of the woods: Wolf Lake in Hammond for musky, pike, walleye and large & smallmouth bass; Lake George in Hobart for bass and slab crappies; Long Lake in Valparaiso for bass n gills; Flint Lake in Valparaiso for bass, crappies and walleyes; Willow Slough near Morocco (sp) for bass and gills; Pine/Stone Lake in LaPorte for bass, crappies and giant sunfish; Salt Creek, Beauty Creek, and Trail Creek for trout and salmon; Kankakee River for walleye, large & smallmouth bass, crappies and pike; Tippiecanoe River for smallmouth, walleye and pike; and a ton of small bodies of water near Hammond area in industrial and/or shopping areas that are loaded with slab crappies and big bass. Well, that ought to be enough to get you started anyway...my favorite is the Kankakee River - plenty of public access from the state line to an area near South Bend where the river starts/is joined by the Kankakee Ditch...ooops and don't forget the Yellow River for excellent smallmouth fishing too. Sharpie Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Decatur Indiana here, I fish anywere there is fish to catch. Quote

Dave P Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 Dave from Farmersburg in Sullivan County. I fish Minny, Shakamak and Greene Sullivan mostly! Quote

Sorry I don't know whether or not they're still renting boats there; the boat rentals for spectacle lake and long lake no longer exist. Flint Lake access is limited as well as Long Lake unless you have a boat. There was a boat rental operation on Lake George in Hobart, the last time I was out there, but since their flood I'm not sure on that score either. J.C. Murphy Lake (Willow Slough) does rent boats still. Quote
bholder Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 Brandon from Southern Indiana (Evansville) seems like most are from central to northern Indiana. I was a full time hunter and part time fisherman for a long time but after kids and the tiresome dailies travels I gave it up, but longing for the outdoors I decided to get into fishing a little heavier. Hoping to learn a lot here and to catch a lot of Bass! I have been learning what I can and have a few friends that are into it so I am hoping to learn fast or at least not too slow. Quote
wormdirt Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 Jeremy from richmond indiana i fish brookville summit and middlefork reservoir allot and martindale pond which is a public fishing pond near hagerstown and im sadly a non boater at the time being Quote
J_Pearson Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 northerner here too, i am in noble county. i am in the chain o'lakes system, nice clear glacial lakes here too. i am also a boater,17'nitro, and most weekends can be found ticking off fish of some kind in northeast indiana. if anyone has any good spots around the area and wants to help a fellow angler...feel free to pm me the info. i like bass and musky but not prejudice against any other fish. may the schwartz be with you! Noble County! I live in the (extremely) small town of Albion, IN...and being a full-time college student means I jam as much homework as I can into a day or two then fish the majority of the week! I'll take stained water over clear any day, but up here we've got so many small natural lakes that all types of water conditions are optional, and I enjoy expanding on my skills. -JP Quote
