Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted April 27, 2010 Super User Posted April 27, 2010 Seeing beds with fish on them in every part of the state. Some even look post spawn or there is an eating disorder taking over in some lakes. They were on beds in Vermont last weekend; many of the beds were empty already. Usually I tear it up when I am there. Not this year. Quote
Super User Tin Posted April 27, 2010 Author Super User Posted April 27, 2010 I saw about a dozen on Beach on Friday (55 degree crystal clear water) and they were empty. Assuming they were made then backed down. Sunday on Keach there were 6 or 7 (northern part of the state with 57 degree water) and caught one off of a bed. I'm guessing some stained lakes like RWP and Glasgo might already be just about finished. Did they look post-spawn Wayne? Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted April 27, 2010 Super User Posted April 27, 2010 I went out last Friday and thought the fish just had lock jaw. I went out again yesterday and found some males @ the northern end of the lake guarding nests and not liking the Bluegill around. I thought it was a little early. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted April 27, 2010 Super User Posted April 27, 2010 The ones that I caught did not look post, but I believe I was catching mostly male fish which are very well fed there. The females in this place are considerably bigger than the males. The females seemed to have done their thing and disappeared back to suspending in deeper water. I only brought shallow baits (regular jerks and swimbaits) because that is all I have ever needed up there. Space is limited in the car for the trip to VT, can't bring everything with me. Quote
Super User Tin Posted April 27, 2010 Author Super User Posted April 27, 2010 Even though they were still prespawn, just seeing beds in Vermont in April seems really early, imo. I still find fish on beds after 4th of July in Mallets Bay. Quote

Super User Tin Posted April 27, 2010 Author Super User Posted April 27, 2010 That 8+ I had pop off wasn't skinny, lol. After watching the video I seriously couldn't move or keep up with that fish. Worst part was I had her on for about a minute before the video started and missed her good jump. I think I had her hooked in the side of the face, if she had eaten it I bet one of the 28 hooks would have kept her buttoned up. Oh well, I will get another, lol. Quote
=Matt 5.0= Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 That's why my fish was emaciated... your largie is eating everything. Quote

backwater4 Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 Candlewood had some fish on beds last week. We had a beautiful 8.5 largie weighed in during the tournament. Quote
bassinri Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 Was at the Cape this past weekend. Smallies were on beds or done. Largemouth weren't on beds yet. Gut who won our tournament there got 26 pounds on 8 fish all off beds and all smallies. Quote
