Cigarlover 1 Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 Was there today. Don't waste your time if you're looking for freshwater gear. Half of what I wanted they didn't have and the other half that they did have was waaaay overpriced in my opinion. They had 0 Abu Garcia rods. > If you like Cabela's brand though you'd be in luck they seemed to have plenty of all their own stuff. : They did have some Revos in the bargain bin. Mostly left hand. They had a right hand Premier (the older model) for $125 I think it was. I was very close but I slipped the monkey a Valium and he laid off. Quote
Super User Tin Posted March 21, 2010 Super User Posted March 21, 2010 The worst part is, that place is has a better selection than the BPS in Foxboro, imo. Quote
Cigarlover 1 Posted March 21, 2010 Author Posted March 21, 2010 That's what I thought too until today. I'll rarely ever visit either one of them again. I'll go to a local shop here in town for certain things, Dicks if I need something quick otherwise TW gets all my business. They're hard to beat with the no shipping deal. I had a list of 30 things I wanted to pick up today and left with 4! lol. The bonus was my daughter had a blast checking out the fish and the animals so it wasn't a complete waste. Quote
UPS VT Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 I was at the BPS in Foxborough a few weeks ago, I don't know what you guys are whining about with that store. Would love to have something like that with in reasonable driving distance. I will agree that is hard to beat Tackle Warehouse though. Quote
fishizzle Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 I have a friend that works at Cabelas EH and he said the store is not doing well so they are cutting back on stock. Makes no sense. Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted March 26, 2010 Super User Posted March 26, 2010 Cabelas people there have no clue where anything is or what you are talking about - most of the time. They backorder just about everything, unless it's clothing. They do sell a LOT of hats! ;D And have you ever tried to get through their check out lines? OMG....talk about S - L - O - W ! BPS in Foxboro is heads & tails above CEH in my opinion. Quote
Cigarlover 1 Posted March 26, 2010 Author Posted March 26, 2010 The thing I found funny when I was down there is that they seemed to have a minimal tackle supply and prices were considerably more than *** (almost a dollar more for a zoom superchunck for exaple) but they had PLENTY of Cabelas brand in stock. It's like they're trying to force people to buy their stuff. That doesn't work on me. Quote
=Matt 5.0= Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 They did have some Revos in the bargain bin. Mostly left hand. Now you're speaking my language. 8-) Quote
AndyPlaysDrums Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 They do sell a LOT of hats! ;D And have you ever tried to get through their check out lines? OMG....talk about S - L - O - W ! Yes, and yes!! I'm heading to BPS in a few weeks for the first time and looking forward to it. Quote
mackkie Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 They do sell a LOT of hats! ;D And have you ever tried to get through their check out lines? OMG....talk about S - L - O - W ! Yes, and yes!! I'm heading to BPS in a few weeks for the first time and looking forward to it. Andy, if you are thinking about making a "bigger" purchase at BPS, be sure to check out the website before you go. I just went to BPS this morning to buy a BPS extreme rod. Checked out the rod online Saturday night and it listed it on sale at $69. I got there - no indication of a sale and I actually had to ask the guy at the counter to match the price. Also, I was in the market for a fish finder - same thing $50 off online, but nothing marked sale at the store...I am sure this has been posted a bunch of times on these forums, but just wanted to let you (everyone else) know in case you didnt Quote
zacksdad Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 Just an FYI about BPS in Foxboro.I bought an internal gas tank off the BPS website that I changed my mind about. I went to the store to return it and the manager told me it was against the law for him to take it back because I did not pay Mass sales tax on it. Sorry if this is off topic but has anyone else heard of this? Quote
Super User Tin Posted March 30, 2010 Super User Posted March 30, 2010 Cabelas people there have no clue where anything is or what you are talking about - most of the time. BPS employees are just as bad. I liked Cabelas selection of rods (they actually had more than 3 of each brand name unlike Foxboro) and had baits I usually on find on TW. Quote
shimanogloomis man Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 Thats why i just order 95% of the time from *** ;D Quote
EdKras Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 I'm only using them for hair jig tying supplies at this point. The only well stocked section seems to be the fly tying dept. Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted April 1, 2010 Super User Posted April 1, 2010 The big "advantage" to either CEH or BPS in Foxboro, is that you save the outrageous shipping charges! What I like to do is place my order over the phone and go to one of these for pick-up, when they call me to say it's in. It costs me gas to get there, but that's still cheaper than paying postage - especially if a group of us take a "road trip"! Quote
NNJBassman Posted April 3, 2010 Posted April 3, 2010 WOW what a bummer. I live in NJ and have a Business trip to Boston on Monday. I was gonna hit BPS Monday evening and hit Cabelas on the way home Tuesday. i must say it seems they have the same problem as the PA stores. I was in Harrisburg PA last week and the rod selection at the BPS was very poor. However, the Cabelas in Hamburg PA was well stocked and picked up a new Quantum reel on sale. Quote
=Matt 5.0= Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 As of last week, BPS in Foxboro was decimated. Quote
