See ya there...questions you can PM me Quote
keepinsane Posted March 22, 2010 Author Posted March 22, 2010 Pre fished James today water was 44.4 deg at the high point. Caught a limit but only about 7 lbs worth of fish the big boys just were not biting.. Anyone have any tips for this cold water? Quote
boog44 Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 Do you fish in that club? I fished with them in the mid 90's. Had a lot of fun with those guys. I'm gonna try to get out there and fish Saturday. It will be tough....cold, clear Quote
keepinsane Posted March 26, 2010 Author Posted March 26, 2010 No I am not in the club yet this will be my first experience in tournament fishing. So I have to taste something before I eat it!! ya know what I mean..see ya sat Quote
squid Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 Good luck tomorrow. Gonna start out cold, but should get up into the 50's. Air temp that is. Quote
keepinsane Posted March 27, 2010 Author Posted March 27, 2010 Thanks squid I feel like a kid the night before christmas!! Cant Wait to see what I get!!!! If anyone else wants to go check in in at 6:30 am at corner landing on James.. good luck to everyone!! ;D Quote
boog44 Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 Well, how did you do? I had a slow day but did weigh a 3-10 smallie. There were some good fish wieghed in! Quote
keepinsane Posted March 28, 2010 Author Posted March 28, 2010 I weighed in zero fish. I caught 3 10 largemouth after the tourney was over. But I also landed a 33 inch 8 lb 5oz pike. my initial plan was to go up and fish snow but when I couted 17 boats heading that way I was discouraged so I changed the plan and went to jimmerson. Oh well!! Gonna go with my gut despite the pressure next time.. It was a great learning exp. Quote
keepinsane Posted March 28, 2010 Author Posted March 28, 2010 Here is my friend CJ and his partner Chris they won with a 20 + lb sack and a 5lb 10oz largemouth Quote
boog44 Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 You got some nice ones. Those guys had a nice bag! Did they say what they caught them on? I got mine on a jerkbait. Don't worry about where anyone else is going! Go out and do what you have confidence in! Just something you'll learn! Quote
keepinsane Posted March 29, 2010 Author Posted March 29, 2010 Thanks I had mine on lipless traps thats what they caught em on too.. Quote
boog44 Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 My partner threw a trap a lot and never had a touch. Almost everyone I saw was throwing them. I have way more confidence, in the spring, in my jerkbait. I did catch the keeper largemouth on a craw. I love to jig fish but, couldn't get one to eat that either. Oh well....Do you fish around Ft Wayne much? Quote
keepinsane Posted March 29, 2010 Author Posted March 29, 2010 yeh I fish blue lake, lake everett. some lakes in columbia city I like webster but thats only for the muskie Quote
J_Pearson Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 That was a nice bag those guys put together..Nice fish yourself! I'm going to hopefully hit that lake in a couple weeks between class and some local tournies. And a 3-10 smallie? That's what I like to read out of Northern Indiana! ;D Tight lines guys, JP Quote
boog44 Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Those lakes are fun, I really meant the rivers or the creeks in and around Fort Wayne. The St Joe river is a decent bass fishery as is Cedarville Res, Hurshtown Res. has giant Smallies and Cedar Creek holds fish as well. JP, there are some really good smallies in James, Wawasee, Maxi, Clear and Crooked Lakes! Quote
keepinsane Posted March 30, 2010 Author Posted March 30, 2010 I used to fish cedarville res when I had my flat bottom boat but since I have the bigger boat I havent even thought of going up there maybe I should.. Can you use your big motor to get on and off your trailor at hurshtown? Where is cedar creek Is that accesible from shoaf park? Quote
boog44 Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 Electric motors only at Hurshtown. You can acess Cedar Creek in Matea Park near Cedarville. To small for a boat. There were a few tournaments at Cedarville for a few years...it took some decent weight to win. Haven't heard of any lately Quote
