Walkingboss Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 walkingboss do you fish captains pond in salem often i just drove by it and it looked nice. is the fishing anygood in it? It's a pretty good pond all in all, but I have a friend who lives on it and he gets a key for the gated access. I'm not too sure if there is a good public access or not. Good ice fishing there. It has your normal NH pond fish: LM, YP, ECP, and Kibbie. Thousands of bass, but most between 1 1/2- 3lbs. Relatively shallow, but there is a good sized 'hole' that makes it down to 25'. A great 'numbers' pond. Quote
baboosicbass08 Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 sounds like baboosic produces some nice fish i will have to shore fish it this year. keep up the good work and keep me posted if you catch any more pigs there. ya baboosic is pretty good you'll catch mostly smaller fish though those are the biggest fish i've caught out of there, i kept the one in the picture but i will never do it again i should have just let it go, but i've caught a 16" out of there as well and then just a lot of sunfish and smaller bass, beach gets busy in the summer though so if u want to fish off shore in the summer go when the lifeguards are off duty which is around 6p.m. i think. my hopes of going out on baboosic tomorrow might not happen with this snow now >...pain if i mapquest and get to Hills Ferry Road, once i get on that if i stay on it will that bring me right to the launch? nhbassin13 Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 walkingboss thanks for the info on the pond i will have to see if there is any public access Quote
baboosicbass08 Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 hey nhbassin do u no what road the reservoir is on, i won't need directions i know wilton well i just need the road its on. thanks Quote
nhbassin13 Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 the resevoir is on a road that is not maintained during the winter called sand hill road Quote
Yakfish Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 "the resevoir is on a road that is not maintained during the winter called sand hill road" That's it. After the center of Wilton take the left at the PD and bear right up the hill. Follow that road for a mile +/- and keep an eye out for Sand Hill on your right. Dirt road that has some deep ruts right now so I'd go with something that has some decent ground clearance. Quote

nhbassin13 Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 the resevoir is town property and anyone can fish it there are some good shore fishing trails around half of the lake. You can also put a small carry-in boat on the water too. when you get there just park on the edge of the road and you will be fine Quote
baboosicbass08 Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 thank you i will definately check it out sometime this weekend as long as i can get in there. i'll be sure to let you know how it goes, i'll charge my camera and get some pics if i get anything good and post them. Quote
baboosicbass08 Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 anything you'd recommend using at the reservoir? Quote
nhbassin13 Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 i used senkos during the summer and fall but im sure there running deep right now so maybe some jigs Quote
djs fishing Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 If your looking for a spot to fish in Nashua I would suggest the pond off Amherst St. If you go down Amherst st. from exit 8 towards Milford and turn right on Continental blvd. Then a quick left on Naticook rd. Bear right toward the end onto camp seargent rd. and then look for the state park on the left (or local park - I do not remember the name). Stay right in side the park and there is a launch there. Good little pond. I have done well there when I worked in Nashua. Quote
Yakfish Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 anything you'd recommend using at the reservoir? Senkos, tubes, cranks and jigs (in that order) have all worked very well for me there. Good luck and let us know how you make out. Quote

I spent a couple of hours shore fishing there late last year. Lots of weeds where I was but it looks like a decent spot. I've heard mixed reviews but will definitely visit it again this year. Walkingboss Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 Evening gents.... Kingston Lake (Great Pond) today was slow most of the day, but I did get 4 largemouth, 2 picks (one very large) and 2 yellow perch (one foul-hooked). Foul-hooked the perch on a silver buddy, everything else on a husky jerk fished along windblown drops. Water temp 42-44, depending. The bite was slow, but let me tell you....when they did hit, they clobbered it. Would've thought the water temp was much warmer the way they pounced. Anyway, off to Spofford Lake tomorrow for smallies and maybe some Northern Pike. Quote
telecaster Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 Hey folks;Due to a recent surgery I havnt been out latly but I,m om the mend now and going a little stir crazy to get out and fish.I,ll probably bank beat Powwow and Greenwood just to get out of the house. Ya never know maybe after ths next nor'easta the weather will turn around and get warm ;D Quote
Walkingboss Posted April 15, 2007 Posted April 15, 2007 Anyway, off to Spofford Lake tomorrow for smallies and maybe some Northern Pike. What, was I high? Spofford is still weeks away from ice-out. Derrrr. So what I did was drive another 10 minutes and fished the CT River. I have never fished the CT before. Water was 37 degrees. BRRRRR. Fishing was slow, but at the end of the day when I changed my retrieve with the 'gold' buddy, things picked up. I will say this though....what a beautiful smallmouth river. I was surprised by how deep the main channel was (parts reading 35') and by some of the steep bluffs. I was 15' from the bank in one area, and was in 20' of water. The best area I found though, was North of West Chesterfield. The river does it's normal thing, running 20-30' in the main channel, when out of the blue, a ledge hump appears. This hump was split down the middle. The tops of rock were about 2 feet below the surface, the middle channel between the ledge humps was 15-18', and then dropped back down to 20-30' on the outside of the humps. Water was funneled between the 'peaks' and diverted around them on the sides. BIG back-eddy downstream in 15' of water. BINGO! Quote
llPa1nll Posted April 16, 2007 Author Posted April 16, 2007 Hey guys reports from Cobbet's Pond, are good. We had a good day keeping in mind at what the temps are/were. Started out water temps were 36.5°F it took awhile but throughout the day got up into the 39.0°F range. We did ok at first I started out with a 2.4lb SM, other noticeable catches were a 2lb Brown Trout, 1.5lb Brown Trout, 3lb LM. I admit today was a day I could have used a larger boat. The wind was a definite factor to be contended with. We had some white caps in the bigger sections which made it extremely difficult to fish as slowly and methodically as I wanted too. At the end of the day I had 10 Bass in the boat and 2 Brown Trout, and my fishing partner had 6 Bass. Quote
baboosicbass08 Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 hey guys went to baboosic friday, just shore fishing from beach didn't get anything, then later went to mine falls park in nashua and fished off the small bridge there and didn't get anything kept getting snagged on things off the bridge Saturday mine falls again still didn't get anything realized what i kept getting stuck on was a mongoose bicycle lol.
