Super User Shane J Posted March 10, 2010 Super User Posted March 10, 2010 I found a pond that's half open water! I'm bringing my jon boat there Thursday to see what's up. Quote
telecaster Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 Hey folks, its been awhile.Last season I hardly fished, workin 2 jobs, hasn't left much time. This season I'm fishing,I need some time on the water. Any way,I was in NJ this past weekend and noticed people in boats fishing in Ct.and people still ice fishing in Ma.I wouldnt trust the ice now.Haven't really checked out the local ponds,Powwow is probably open, and some more warm weather the lakes shouldnt be too long. Hope to see some of yooze out on the ponds I will be fishing lots more this season for sure.. 8-) Quote
Super User Shane J Posted March 10, 2010 Super User Posted March 10, 2010 I have to push my outing back until Friday, but I will post pics if I have any luck, Derek. I think this pond opened up so fast because of the super heavy rain we had there right before the tornado-style winds we got last week. From the bank, it looks like a whole new channel has opened up, and there's new sand and rubble formations that just weren't there before. It's crazy! Looking around, it looks like it flooded to twice it's size at it's highest, and now is surrounded by a marsh-like area. I'm gonna whack 'em with some lipless cranks and jigs and see what happens. I'm dying to get a bass on the end of a line here soon! Quote
llPa1nll Posted March 11, 2010 Author Posted March 11, 2010 Welcome aboard NHBass. Is anyone going to brave the heavy rains this weekend? I think Im going to pass and wait for my home lake to open up and go out the following weekend if I can. GL and tight lines to those who can get out. Quote

nashua fisherman Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 i fish westford/groton/tynsborough where do you fish? i got my mass liscence this year and was looking for some new places in westford and tyngsboro. Quote
SausageFingers23 Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 Found a patch of open water and threw out from shore today with a new baitcast reel. I've only thrown spin cast to this point so Im still getting used to it. It worked great until I screwed with the drag, set it too light, and fired it into the wind. Biggest freaking nest Ive ever seen. But it was awesome to throw into open water for the first time since early Dec. Hope everyone else is coping with cabin fever better than me. Quote

llPa1nll Posted March 15, 2010 Author Posted March 15, 2010 Hope you guys all stayed as dry as possible. Did any one actually try and venture out? Cobbets pond is open and so is long pond. Im guessing by this weekend everything will be out. Tight lines all, stay safe and keep those life jackets on with the extremely cold water. Quote

Just because it was easy to get to and there was open water. I would imagine we'll be seeing a lot of open water soon with all of the rain. Quote
