unhbass37 Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 No Idea what to use up there, But good luck. Quote
jaystraw Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 That's where I grew up, but we mostly fished for trout back then. Ossipee is really clear water, but that's not going to matter in the dark. I'd go with big dark colored senkos, big black spinnerbaits and a Heddon Torpedo in any color. Also, I'd used an XRAP or something like it fora a crankbait/jerkbait. I'd think you would want a little sound to go with the action so they can locate it in the dark. And of course, never forget your Jitterbug...any color as long as it's black. Smallies LOVE them. Quote
NHfroggin Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 Thanks unh and Jaystraw!!! The jitterbug should be good as we will hit the night bite and early morning bite!! i will have to pick up a black one i think i only have a frog colored one and a white one. thanks -matt- Quote
wagn Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 I woudn't worry to much about the color of the jitterbug at night. it's the steady motion that makes the differance. I fish the big musky sized on at night and you can get some vicious strikes from it. A big spinnerbait (black if you have it) with a big colorodo blade works wonders at night. Buzzbaits are good as well. Quote
baboosicbass08 Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 Good luck at the tourny bassmaster6...I had found a little free time tonite and went out to Melendy pond again and got a couple pretty good sized ones right off a dock. Here they are: Quote
NHfroggin Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 Thanks wagn and baboosic!! also nice fish Baboosic!! -matt- Quote
jaystraw Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 I got out this afternoon from 11am-3pm. Caught about 10 bass, with 3 of them being between 3-4 pounds. A ton of pickeral as well. Most everything on senkos tossed along the weedline. pics to come. Quote
unhbass37 Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 Nice Fish baboosicbass08 . I am going to try that place out. May be a hawg in there. I got out today at Mill and only caught one little fella, Bite was very slow. I did lose a hawg though right as I reached to grab him (Line broke). Man I hate it when that happens. :'( Jay where do you fish? Quote
jaystraw Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 I fish in the Hillsboro/Henniker/Washington area. There's a lot of smallie places, and a few good largemouth ponds. I'm mostly fish for smallies, but yesterday I went to Upper Pond in Henniker (only my second visit ever). It's a pain in the butt to get on, and it's not very big, but there are some decent fish in there. The 2 pictured about were 3 pounds 2 oz and 3 pound 6 oz, both caught from the exact same area with about an hour in between. It's really dark water with a LOT of lily pads. The fish were really dark colored. I did get out this AM from about 8:30am-12:00pm. I caught 4 smallies, 2 of which were about 2 2.5 pounds. All were caught on a Yum lizard on an 1/8th oz jig head fished around deep structure. Quote
NH_Bass_Tard Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 Hey guys got a question. What is the primary baitfish in NH. Down south they have shad what do we have if any? I've heard some people say golden shiners. If so, are they in most lakes and ponds? Quote
jaystraw Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 I'd say golden shiners are a good bet. a lot of the places I fish have a decent amount of bluegill and perch as well. Quote
NHfroggin Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Hey guys fished the tournament on ossipee and had a tough time. Left the launch at 7p.m. and caught my first fish at 7:30, small around 1 1/2 pounds but a keeper. Fished for the next four hours without a bite, then a small mouth on a jitterbug to small to keep though. That was my last bite of the night! The guys i was fishing with missed one on a buzzbait and that was all the action he saw. Fishing was extremely slow. We had to leave early(at about 5a.m.) because the starting battery died . It was my first time on a bass boat and it was sweeett a new skeeter with a 200hp on it!!! all in all good experience just hope there is better fishing next time!! thanks everyone for all the advice! -matt- Quote
unhbass37 Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Thats alright Matt. Look at it as a cool experence. I personally never have done well at night, Plus the bugs kill me. For me anyway as soon as the sun goes down I'm done. Quote

For me anyway as soon as the sun goes down I'm done. I second that emotion. From what I've heard, Ossippe can be a really tough lake to fish even during peak hours, so I would not feel too bad about not catching them at night there. Add to that the weird weather and the cold nights up there, and I'd pat yourself on the back for catching anything. Quote
NHfroggin Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 Thanks UNH and Jaystraw!!! here are the results: 1st Marc Hamel 14.60 $160 2nd Justin Brigham 12.27 $96 3rd Ryan Richardson 11.13 $64 FL Carl Cote 10.38 $165 Lunker Large Marc Hamel 6.61 $160 Lunker Small Justin Brigham 4.25 $160 -matt- Quote
jaystraw Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 d**n, Marc Hamel can come fishing with me anytime. I wonder if that's the same as the guy who played Luke Skywalker. He seems to fish like a jedi from his weights. Quote
catchbig0bass Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Just an idea! We should probably consolidate this thread and the anyone having luck in southern NH together. Seems like we are all posting around the general area! Maybe start a totally new one thats just NH fishing and lock this and the luck in sNH thread. Quote

That southern NH thread got started this year, and it's been tough to decide where to post. I've been posting in this thread for three years, so I'm having trouble breaking the habit. in fact, here's my fishing report. Pretty good luck all weekend. I caught a lot of big smallmouth and a few largemouth as well. Most of the fish were caugth in deep water around structure. Quote

If we are going to shut down one of the threads it may make more sense to shut the Southern NH thread as this(A shoutout to NH) covers all of NH. JMO BTW Jaystraw when Marc Hamel showed up to the launch all the guys were like d**n we might as well give him our money -matt- Quote
baboosicbass08 Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 I agree with jay on this one I've been posting on this one for a couple years and I still try to post reports on this thread to keep it going Quote
jaystraw Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 Yeah, I'm just too attached to this thread to not post here. It does seem weird to have two threads for NH, but I guess we are just that cool. 8-) Anyway, I went out today and had a good time. Caught about 8 smallies on senkos fished around deep water structure, or incredibly tight to shore in water less than a foot. Also around pads and some grass in deeper water. Quote
jaystraw Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 I went out today after work. I had a great time catching smallies on spinners and senkos. Around 6:30pm, I caught this five pound largemouth on a 5" senko off a submerged brush pile. A kayaker just happened to be going by and was nice enough to take a picture for me: Good luck everyone! Quote
wagn Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 Got out on the water with Bassmaster6 today. We had a great day overall. Took us awhile to find the fish but once we found the right place it was pretty consistant. I caught 12 Bassmaster caught 7 i think Largest was 4 lbs 7oz and put up a great fight. Caught on a black and blue jig Quote
unhbass37 Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 Nice fish wagn. Jigs and Senkos are my only baits this year. Quote
