NH_Bass_Tard Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 Jaystraw, What areas of halfmoon pond were you fishing? I've been there before a couple of years ago. Quote
unhbass37 Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 nashua fisherman I may go, Do you want to team up? I just don't think my inflatable will be enough room for both of us. From the looks of it they all have crawdads and canoes. I could bring my Bass Tracker, But I don't think outboards are allowed. Quote

It's not a real big lake, I'll be fishing out of my tracker as well. If you guys want to team up or come seperately that would be great. The more the merrier. Got out today on the Piscatequog. (where the tourney is being held). Man was there alot of rain. We still managed 9 bass a few pikeral and a perch. It was a fun day. I love fishing in the rain. Quote

spin king Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 Great fish Jaystraw. Just curious what size senko you were using. I'm finding that bigger is better, but wondering about what others are doing. Quote
unhbass37 Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 Yes we should fish together sometime. I may head up there to check it out, But not sure when. Quote
unhbass37 Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 spin king I use 5" senkos and even the little fellas hit. I have caught 5 pounders on them also. Quote
jaystraw Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 I caught her not too far from the launch off the shore on the left side of the pond. It's funny because it was my first visit there. I almost exclusively use 4 and 5 inch senkos. I think i am going to try going a little bigger though as I've heard some good things from other people just recently. Quote

There was a camping area with a little opening in the woods for launching boats right? Quote
jaystraw Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 yup, that's exactly where I was. Right place at the right time, and toss in a little luck as well. Quote
NH_Bass_Tard Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 nice. Im going to have to try that place again sometime. Did you catch numbers in there or was it mainly just that mosnter?? Quote
jaystraw Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 I think I caught around 6-8 bass between 6:30am and 9:00am. Pretty good for a short trip, but nothing big except that giant. My buddy and I wernt out two nights ago and had a great trip. Big smllies were hitting topwater and senkos. Here's a pic of the three pounder I caught: Quote
NH_Bass_Tard Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 How much do you think all this rain will affect the fishing? I was at powder mill pond the other day and there was a stronger then usual current. I could not find any bass. Powder Mill Pond is an impoundment on the contoocook river if you didn't already know this. Anyone know how an increased current flow would affect the bass behavior? Quote
unhbass37 Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 I have no problem catching bass in the rain. I went out today and caught 5 bass. I have fished many days in the rain and done well, Bass feed good then. Now you said a strong current, That is where you won't find bass. They will look for a place with no current, But this could close to where the current is also to ambush there prey as they swim by. Hope this helps. Quote
jaystraw Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 The rain seems to be pushing the fish a lot shallower thn usual where I've been fishing. Quote
NH_Bass_Tard Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 Yea it definitley seems that rain will push bass shallower. But I heard thaton reservoirs, the current can affect the food in the water that baitfish feed on. Like it will push it down "stream" and the bait fish will follow and so will the predators such as bass.. does this sound somewhat right? So if it is true maybe Ill have to find banks and other current breaks where baitfish might be gathering? Quote
wagn Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 Got out today. Me and a buddy caught 25 bass. The largest was 3.5lbs Once the rain stopped the bite died down real quick. Hope Everyone else is enjoying the rainy weather like I am ;D Updated the NH tourney thread with a sweet vid as well. Quote
