Fuzzy101prf Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 Hey guys! I pulled this guy out of the Merrimack in Merrimack last week.. I was using some sort of Berkley shad looking swim-bait thing. Not bad for the first bass of the season SM 3.75 lbs 21 long Quote
wagn Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 Nice FIsh!! I got out yesterday and did pretty well. a four pouner, a 3bler and a couple decent 1-1.5lb LM's Also hooked a few pickeral and one pretty big one. My poor dad lost a monster at the side of the boat, saw him come right up to the edge and as I was about to net him the line broke. The fish was a solid 5, and that's being conservative. Everything was on senko's nothing else would work. Hope everyone else is having good luck Quote
jaystraw Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 Wow! that's a hog of a smallie! glad to hear you had good luck wagn. Sorry to hear about theone that got away on your Dad. I went out on Saturday and had a great day. Lots of 2lb to 4lb largemouths hanging out in trees in the water just waiting for my senko. I've also had a lot of luck with smallies on regular mepps spinners in purple and yellow. Quote
NH_Bass_Tard Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 Hey everyone. I was just wondering if you guys have noticed any bass getting ready to spawn where you guys fish. Have you seen any beds or have they already begun? I know its gettin close to the full moon, so if they haven't started yet it should take place by next week or so right? Quote
wagn Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 When I went out last week the water was pretty stained, but I did see one bed in about 4 foot of water. No fish on it though Quote
wagn Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Anyone ever fish Poole Pond in Ringe? Can't find any information about this little lake anywhere. Thanks for any help Quote
baboosicbass08 Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Anyone ever fish Poole Pond in Ringe? Can't find any information about this little lake anywhere. Thanks for any help Never fished it but heres the depth map for it: http://www.wildlife.state.nh.us/Fishing/bathy_maps/pool_rindge.pdf Quote
jaystraw Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 I've never fished it, but Rindge is packed full of good water to fish from what I've heard. I went out this afternoon and all the fish and beds I saw on Saturday were gone. There were a couple beds, but they looked like they had been left unattended for a while. Its so weird. I did not think it got that cold this week... Very strange. anyway, I still found a few good, solid largemouth and a few nice smallmouth, all on senkos near rocks in shallow water. Quote
jaystraw Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 I went out this AM to hit up Long Pond in Henniker. Unfortunately, the GPS coordinates in Clarks bring you to private property now. :-( So, I went over to Pleasant Pond in Henniker/Deering (it's right on the line). I thought the fish would be in the rocks, but they were in the extreme shallows on beds (for the most part). I caught a bunch of really nice largemouth on senkos, and one on a green pumpkin swim jig, actually swimming the jig. Quote
wagn Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 Sounds like a good day Jay. Went out Thursday and caught 18 pickeral and one bass. The winds were crazy, over 19mph. I found a bunch of beds shallow in different parts of the lake but could not find a single bass on one of them. I don't think the wind would have pulled them off since most of the beds were protected. I really couldn't figure out where the bass were at. Quote
wagn Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Went out with Pain today and had an awesome day. 41 Bass with a multiple fish over 3 lbs. Caught them on everything from jigs to jerk baits. At 3 different times we doubled up and each had a fish on. The conditions changed and we managed to adapt and keep on the fish. Here are a couple of random pics from the day Quote
llPa1nll Posted May 18, 2009 Author Posted May 18, 2009 Was a good day. I was happy to see a good jig bite take center stage at the end of the day. Too bad I didnt get a fish on the wake bait. Good job Wagn, was real nice to get out with you again. Hopefully next time the sun might actually come out for a change. Tight lines all... Quote
unhbass37 Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Decided to hit Mill Pond again at 5:30pm and here is what I caught. 5lbs 1oz Butter ball. I was surprised due to the fact there were 3 boats there and a ton of shore fishermen. Quote
baboosicbass08 Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Nice one unhbass! Went out to haunted lake for a few hours this evening had a few bites and had a decent one spit the hook at the boat, it was the first time I'd been out in almost a month so it was at least good to get the feel of a fish on the line again Quote
llPa1nll Posted May 20, 2009 Author Posted May 20, 2009 Nice chunker, you got there. Im getting out today after work, I have the boat on the back of the truck as we speak. Looking to get out and spank some fish. Its to nice out not to. Good Luck and tight lines everyone. Quote
llPa1nll Posted May 21, 2009 Author Posted May 21, 2009 Got out last night hooked up with 10 in 2hrs broke off 1. All of them coming on slow drags and hops. The jig bite was on. Looking to get out again tonight never took the boat off. Oh Happy Day! Quote
wagn Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 Nice Pain Got out today myself from 8-1. Caught 7 bass all in the 1.5-2.5 pound range. Like Pain said the Jig bite is on ;D Quote
baboosicbass08 Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 Best day for the year for me by far! Went to sunset lake today, got 15 for me and missed around 8, got there around 3 left a little before 9, killed em on carolina rig with a 6" inch watermelon seed lizard all day/night, and got a few on topwater around dusk. Saw a fish keep surfacing in the middle of the lake getting bugs so i paddled out there and threw a hula popper right by where he was and he took it right away, easiest catch by far haha...Nothing of any good size today but it sure felt good to get numbers today biggest was a little over 2 lbs, heres a few pics of some of the fish before the camera died. Quote
wagn Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 Looks like alot of us have been out in this nice weather. is anyone seeing the bass locked onto beds yet? I can find beds everywhere but the fish don't seem to be up on them yet. Most of my hits are coming a few feet away from the beds at a deeper drop off edge. I thought with this warm up the fish would be bedding by now. Quote
luvfishing Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 Got out today on the Winni. river in Tilton. Managed 2 largmouth, and 1 smallie. all around 2-2.5lbs What do you guys use when the area is covered in Milfoil? i tried some senkos, but couldnt get them to bust through it, so all the bass came on the Stanely ribbets. Quote
unhbass37 Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 I look for holes in the milfoil and throw a lipless crankbait. If the bass are there they will hit it. Quote
jaystraw Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 so, back to wagn's question about beds. I've been seeing a TON of beds everywhere I go. The deeper, clearer lakes seem to be a week behind the smaller ones. In some of the lakes I fish, I've already seen fry swimming in the water. In fact, I think the smallmouth first wave of spawning may already be over. I've been able to catch them on senko and inline spinners. I've also seen largemouth on beds, but not as many and they seem easier to spook. Especially the really shallow water fish. Seems like I have to stay back about 20-30 feet or they will not bite while on the beds yet. Not as easy to catch, most on senkos. Also, in the AM most beds looked empty, but by 10-11:00am, the fish had moved up onto them. That's my observations from the lakes I've fished from Hillsboro to Sutton. Also, here's some pictures of a bear I saw swimming across Loon Pond in Hillsboro while I was fishing Sunday. youtube link: Quote
