jaystraw Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 Yeah, the black flies are brutal right now. I remember some NH shirt from a long time ago that said: "Black Flies don't bite, they SUCK!" Quote
unhbass37 Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 Any of you boys get out today? I'm thinking of tring later, But do you think I'm wasting my time? LOL Quote
jaystraw Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 I'm going to pass on battling the wind today, but tomorrow looks like it will be far less windy, and a lot cooler. And its NEVER a waste of time fishing. Only working is a waste of time. Quote
unhbass37 Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 Your right its never a waste of time. Did not mean for it to come out like that. LOL Quote
NH_Bass_Tard Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 I went out today and could only catch pickerel. It's been like this for three days in a row. Since sunday I think me and my dad have probably caught around 40 pickerel, 0 bass. The water temp. was 66-68F. Not sure where the bass are or any sunfish for that matter. Seems too early for the spawn. All I know is that I'm absolutley stumped! Quote
saucy Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 I was out at Hopkinton Reservoir today and between me and my friend we boated close to 60 fish. Mostly pickerel, but we did manage 3 bass over 4lbs and a few more over 3lbs. Quote

Mostly pickerel, but we did manage 3 bass over 4lbs and a few more over 3lbs. Nice that's how to pull em in! What kind of areas were you guys targeting?? Quote

NH_Bass_Tard Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 Well I'm not sure if that is typical but we just had 4 days of hot weather that was 80+. I fish in a shallow reservoir that warms really fast, it really depends on the body of water you are fishing. Depth and water clarity will determine how fast the water warms and what is typical for a certain time of year. Quote
jaystraw Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 Well, I got out yesterday afternoon, and it was amazing. I went out a little pond in Newbury, and the fish were waiting for me. I must have caught about 20-30 fish in about 3 hours. Most of them were around a pound, but I caught a couple 2 pounders. All the fish were shallow near cover of some sort. The water temp must have been close to 70 in the shallows. There were bass cruising everywhere, and they were pretty aggressive for a jig or senko, but would not hit a jerkbait. Good times! Quote
llPa1nll Posted May 1, 2009 Author Posted May 1, 2009 No word yet, on when Im getting my boat back. I might just put out an Amber Alert its been too long since she has been home. Doesnt look good that Im going to be able to get out this weekend. Bummer. Tight lines everyone... Quote
llPa1nll Posted May 1, 2009 Author Posted May 1, 2009 What's wrong with the boat Pain? Hey Wagn, appears I had some water in the lines and with the new gas with ethanol in it it turned to what the mechanic referred to as "Jello". So I get her back tomorrow afternoon. Which is going to enable me to get out on Sunday. Yay! That and Im hoping it isnt going to be too expensive. Sent you a PM. Quote
wagn Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 Good to hear that it wasn't to bad. Replied to the PM as well Quote
saucy Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 Another 40+ fish day today. It's still mostly pickerel, but we pulled a few nice ones out today. Quote
jaystraw Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Nice Fish! I went out today on a pond in Sutton and did pretty well. I caught about 10, all the fish out of tree's with a senko. I did run into a guy thathad caught about 5-6 using topwater.' I guess it's never too early for topwater! Quote
NH_Bass_Tard Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Jaystraw, are you still planning on going to powder mill or did you decide against it? Quote
jaystraw Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 No, I did not end up heading over there. My friend in Bradford wanted to go, so I went with him to a small pond over there. It was good action, but they were all pretty small. Here's a smallie from this an: Quote
jaystraw Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 The last couple times I've been out I seen a lot of beds and a few fish on them. Anyone else seeing this in NH? Quote
unhbass37 Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Not at my pond yet. Water temp dropped to 59 degrees so I'm thinking that may have to do with it. I only got one pickerel today. I also think I may of lost a big bass, But never got him to the surface so it could of been another pickerel. Been tough fishing for me lately. Glad to see you guys are doing well. Quote
jaystraw Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 it will turn around for you soon unhbass. Even with the decent amount of fish I'm catching, it seems a little slower than last year. I'm assuming things will pick up soon when we get some extended warmer weather and some strong sunny days. At least, I hope so! I went out yesterday and caught a few smallmouth on a BPS 3" sticko, and a huge pickeral and perch on a grub on a jig head. It was pretty slow much of the day, and I saw about 200 empty beds and one fish on one bed. Quote
Maven Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 Hey Saucy - Nice Bass! You ready for another day like that this weekend? Quote
llPa1nll Posted May 7, 2009 Author Posted May 7, 2009 Well feels like Im cheating but got the boat back and was out on Sunday and I took it out again last night after work. Two good outings, look forward to getting out again soon. Sunday was a little slow with bites fished 8-3pm caught 12. Yesterday afternoon was out from 5:30 - 8pm caught 10. Tight lines all. Quote
Yakfish Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 Glad to here you guys are getting bit! Only 4 dinks under my belt so far but I haven't had much time at all. Fingers crossed for some nicer days off next week :-/ Quote
