jaystraw Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 Nice going wagn! I only got out on Tuesday for a half day this week. Good day. Caught 5 decent 2 pound smallies, a bunch of 2-3 pound pickeral, and a nice 2 pound LM. All were caught on senkos. I could not buy a bite on crankbaits or anything else. Looks like it's gonna be real cold this weekend at night...good luck y'all! Quote
baboosicbass08 Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Got out today with wagn for a little, he got a pretty decent LM, a smallie and had a perch come off at the boat, I got skunked but I was glad I was able to get out and practice with the baitcaster with no birds nests all day. Unfortunately this will probably be my last time out this year as I am switching into hunting mode. Thanks for taking me chuck. Here's wagns LM: Quote
wagn Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Had a great day Dave, even though the bite was slow. I think I may be putting the gear away for the season soon. The cold weather and other obligations may end the season for me. This truly has been the best season I have ever had. I've caught 1 7lb bass, 2 6lbers. a 5lb and a few 4's as well as catching over 300 fish overall. I've developed myself as an Angler as well. I've gained great confidence in spinnerbaits. I've worked on my jig fishing. I still rely on senko's but not nearly as much. I've learned how and where to carolina rig. Thanks to all of the members here in NH who have made this such a memorable year. Thanks Dave and Jay for fishing with me, and thanks Pain for showing me the power of the Jig. Tight lines everyone -Chuck Quote
jaystraw Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 It's always a pleasure to fish with an angler such as yourself wagn! Thanks for taking me out earlier in the year. We will have to try and get out more next year. I think I'm about to hang it up until ice fishing as well, but I may have one or two more short day trips in me. Quote
jaystraw Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 I've changed my mind, I'm fishing until it's ice. I went out today and caught about 20 LM's, and a big pickeral Some were dinks, but most were in the 1-2 pound range, and one that looked like she was 4-5 pounds came off a little ways from the boat. That was painful. All of the fish were caught on bass pro shop 4 1/4 " green pumpkin stickos.st off the shore. Some were in what's left of the pads, but most were under brush or near rocks near the shore. I could not get them to bite anything else, but they LOVED the stickos. Here is one of them. Keep at it everyone! Quote
jaystraw Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 What a beautiful day it was for fishing today! wagn and I got out on the river today for a few hours. Water temps were in the low 50's, and the water was very dark. Almost no visability below a foot or so. Maybe less than that. wagn caught 4 fish, and I caught one. Nothing huge was caught, and the bite was very slow, but it was sure a nice day to get out there! I forgot to mention wagn caught a fish on the jig and on watermelon senkos for the others. All near cover of some sort pretty cloose to shore. Thanks wagn! Here's my HUGE 2 pounder. lol! Quote
luvfishing Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 Hey guys, I plan on hitting the a cove off the Big Lake, this weekend. Any pointers for me this time year? Quote
wagn Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 Fish slow? Not much help I know. Good luck on the water Quote
jaystraw Posted November 1, 2008 Posted November 1, 2008 yeah, fish slow. Finesse baits, and/or suspending jerkbaits fished slowly near cover. Look for what's left of the weeds and start there. If nothing, go deeper if you've got the equipment. I went out yesterday and caught a couple LM's and a pickeral on a jig, but the bite was SLOW. Water temps must be hittng the high 40's now. Quote
jaystraw Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 went out on Tuesday for a few hours without any luck. I saw one fish rise near me and threw a senko at it, it bit, but came off a few seconds later. Water temps are really cold. May be time to hang it up for the year. :-[ edit: I'm schizo. Went out Friday to a small pond in Newbury because it's been so warm. The LM's were back in the shallow water to about 10 feet offshore. I caught 8 smaller LM's (all 1.5 pounds or less) in about 4 hours. A few on the sticko, a few on the perch husky jerk, one on a zara puppy, and one on a jig. As you can tell, I was throwing the kichen sink at them. The bite was really on earlier in the day, but died off around 2:30pm. It was great to get out there and catch some fish in November. I'm gonna head out Sunday and see what else is going on. I feel a littel weird still driving around with the canoe on my car, but if they are biting, I'm gonna fish. Quote
jaystraw Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 I'm starting to feel like I'm the only person on this board in NH still fishing! Went out again on Sunday. Caught a ton of fish. All were caught on the exact same watermelon senko all day long. It was cold, and the water was pretty cold (guessing 50 degress), but the fish were still hitting the senko. Most were near trees in the water. Here is my big fish of the day. A 3 LB 5 oz beauty: Quote
baboosicbass08 Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 Nice fish jay, good to see you're still getting out. I've switched to hunting so fishing is done for me this year. Quote
wagn Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 Great Job Jay. I think I'm done for the year as well. Too much going on to get out on the water right now. Keep up the good work and making us NH guys proud. As an idea for next season we should really plan a NH get together day. Not really a tournament just a full day of fishing at a small lake somewhere. If people are interested in it, I'll plan it for next spring sometime. -Chuck Quote
jaystraw Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 That is a great idea wagn. I'm game. I think I'm also done for the year. It's cold, the water has gotten colder, and I think it's time to wait for ice fishing. Have a good winter everyone. Quote
Tokyo Tony Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 So I assume all the stillwater is frozen, or close to it, up there? We just got a ton of rain in CT so all the ice is melted. Gonna try my luck this weekend 8-) Quote
jaystraw Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 for the most part, everything is frozen over. In fact, saw my first two ice fisherman yesterday. They may want to wait until that ice is thick enough.... Quote
bassmaster2009 Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 What just cause its winter nobody is on here posting come on Nh fisherman lets set something up on massabesiac or pawtucaway, merrymeeting, wentworth, lovell somewhere in Nh just all of us have a good day fishing and some bragging rights!!!!!!!! Quote
llPa1nll Posted January 7, 2009 Author Posted January 7, 2009 Cobbets is pretty much all frozen up except portions of big pond, where the springs are.I have been way to busy lately to get out much this fall. I hope everyone had decent fall fishing and are ready to get back out on some less crunchy water than what we have now. Quote
llPa1nll Posted January 27, 2009 Author Posted January 27, 2009 Im guessing everyone else is as tired as I am of this brutal winter we are having here in NH. Between the Cold and the Snow it makes me want to go South on a permanent vacation. How have you guys been getting by counting the days to ice out? Quote
wagn Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Yeah, this winter is killing me. I'm just getting by one day at a time till I can get back on the water. Working full time and going to school keeps and taking care of a toddler does keep me busy. Any free time I get I spend playing guitar....though I find lately I keep being drawn to the blues...I can't wait till ice out Quote
Super User Shane J Posted January 28, 2009 Super User Posted January 28, 2009 I'm from N.H. and we're lucky to have so many good places to fish. Some of the places I fish a lot are Turkey pond in Concord, the Merrimack River, Lake Massebesic in Auburn, and Turtle pond in Loudon. This past year was the first year of boat ownership for me, so I'll be looking to expand and explore some new water this year. I really can't wait for the ice to be gone!! I'm going crazy, plus the bait monkey is killin' me!! Good to meet ya'll Quote

jaystraw Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Well, at least february is here and we are a little closer to spring. Anyone else watching bass fishing shows and having a hard time not buying every bait they catch big bass on? ;-) Quote
rippin_lips Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Jaystraw, I have every fishing show tivo'ed, cant get enough. I have an on-going list of baits that I "need" before I can go fishing in the spring. Hopefully I can save some money for a massive BPS order soon. I just keep thinking of the day when I get out on the water for the first time this spring. Quote
