Hey Wagn, that is actually Tower Hill Pond in my pic.  It is close to Little Massebesic.  I like the place a lot because it is much more private than the places I have been fishing.  No boat access so I don't have to worry about boats flying by me causing wakes every few minutes.  Only people on boats there are people that lug in a canoe.  If you want to check it out I'll meet up with ya to go fishing there.

Sounds like a nice place KlubbaT. I sent you a PM as well.

Went out yesterday w/ my dad and had a pretty good day. 19 fish over all. All of them were average size. Mostly on senko's and lizards and a couple of crankbaits. I need to get more into crankbaiting. We got off the water right before the thunderstorm hit which was nice. Have to thank Baboosic again for giving me confidence in the carolina rig and lizards. It's become very productive for me in the last couple of weeks.

Good luck on the water

Check out this thread. It has pages about the carolina rig and best ways to fish it.

Basically it's just a weight, bead, and swivel anywhere from 12 inches to 3 feet from your lure. I've been fishing it about 18 inches away since the water i'm in has been fairly dark. It allows you to fish deeper water and not have the weight connected directly to the bait like a t-rig. Mostly i throw it out as far as i can, let is sink and then sweep it back to me with long rod strokes.

I've been fishing it off points and drop offs and in creek channels. I'm using a 3/4 to 1oz wieght on mine. The best part is that I can really feel the bottom and as it changes from weed to rock for example. If i catch a fish there i know to target that on other parts of the lake. I'm nowhere near an expert but really enjoy using it.

I like the pre-rigged setups cause i'm lazy  8-)

I prefer black to brass though.

Hope this helps

I have gone out there to tower hill pond. It a nice place to walk around and very secluded as you said. However I have had no luck out there at all. I did have good expectations for that hole when I went out.. But no luck. It's a bumer too, its very close to my house.

so just stay on where it turns to a dirt rd?

Yes, stay on that until you hit a area where there is a group of white cottages on the right and take the road that's there. I'm not too sure what the name of the road is. I think it's Manning Lake road or Ramp road.

Hey everyone,

I've been back to fishing after a little 2 week break. Been doing well on senkos, and I tried something new and weird yesterday. I rigged a senko wacky style on a 3/8th oz. football head jig. I had read about it in this months In-Fisherman, and I decided to give it a shot to fish deeper water. From what I read, I was not using the right type of worm or jig head, but it still worked really well. I caught numerous 2.5-3 pound smallies in the early afternoon, with dead calm water, and a little cloud cover, in deep water offf the shore about 20-30 feet.

I'm going try and work C-rigging this weekend, but wacky-jigging is my new favorite style!

Gbm- Welcome to the forum. you'll find a ton of great info on this site as well as great people.

Jay- Great to see you doing so well. I read the same article in in-fisherman, and i'm glad to see the technique works. I wouldn't worry about having the "right" hooks for that technique, Special ball weighted wacky jigs just look like a gimmick since any quality ball jig should work.

I agree with that.  I think I'll downsize the weight though.

It's great because its the perfect use for my senkos that get too beat up to t-rig anymore. And, one reason I never fish wacky style it because you lose so many senkos.

I love it when a plan comes together. 8-)

I've been out a buch overthe last week or so. Hit up Gile Pond in Sutton (few larry's but nothing really big) and Post Pond in Orford (tough fishing, but my buddy caught a nice 3 pound smallie).

Hit up another smallie spot on Sunday.  Pretty good fishing with lots of smallies.  The wierdest thing was that the smallies were still near the beds!!!  They were not still spawning, but guarding their young.

Seems like the big fish have moved deep.  Time to hit the deep water structure.

Hey guys,

I had a couple of successful mornings at Massabesic. It seems that they are hitting topwater more in the morning then plastics. I yanked this guy out right from the weeds by the main park parking area

Hey all,

I have been real busy and have had barely anytime for fishing. I however got out on the lake this past Sunday. I had a great day. I fished from 8-5. Between my fishing partner and I we probably caught close to 50 bass. most were in the 2lb average range. Only thin I tried that I didnt get bite on was top water, even thought they were busting on bait fish all morning long. Worms, jigs, soft plastics all were working their magic. Hope all of you are having some good luck. Tight lines everyone.

Hey Pain, where did you catch all those fish?

I was messing around with my depth finder the other day, trying to located structure a little deeper than I normally fish.  I hooked into what I thought was a bass, but when I got it up to the boat, it turned out to be a 14" yellow perch.  I would guess it was a little better than a pound.  I could not believe how big this thing was.  Anyhow, not much bass lately for me, but definitely the perch catch of a lifetime.
