jaystraw Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 good job guys! Gotta love private ponds. Went out myself yesterday. Caught about 7 nice smallmouth, 4 huge pickeral and about 6 yellow perch that were really large! I caught everything on a Shad Rap in silver. Quote
llPa1nll Posted May 5, 2008 Author Posted May 5, 2008 Man was it raining that day or what? I took the hottest shower when I got in, to try and warm up. I left the boat uncovered and hopefully the sun will dry her out this week. Good fishing Chuck, I hope we get to go out again, when the bite is really on. Hope you stick with that Jig fishing it has provided me with allot of success. Quote
Tokyo Tony Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 Fished that pond right across from Wheeler Dam on Saturday from shore and got 7 smallies over about 3 hours. It was slow at times, but I found a school and caught 6 fish in less than an hour. Man, it was awesome to finally catch smallies again  ;D All were caught on jerkbaits - I'll post a report in the smallie section once I get the pictures developed. Oh, and 4 of the fish were females full of eggs. Quote
Bass Tard Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 I had on mostly a pumpkin green boyah flippin jig w/ a green craw trailer. and I Pain's jig was a black and blue craw w/ pork trailer, lunker city i believe. We also caught some fish on craw worms and senko's Looks like I need to do some shopping...............LOL Quote
jaystraw Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 Yeah, I tried my bitsy flip today, but did not have any luck on it. I really want to catch a fish on a real jig. the closest I've come is a power minnow on a small jig head. I went out this afternoon for a few and did OK. Landed a really nice smallmouth on the Shad Rap and a huge pickeral and a huge perch. It was pretty slow overall in the early afternoon. Quote
wagn Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 Went out to turtle today in concord and had no luck, 7 pickeral and no bass. The water was super dark, and i was looking for nest but didn't see any yet. Not a bass in sight either breaking water or cruising around. I did  manage to get a nice sunburn and work on my casting accuracy. but other then that nothing. ahh well, there's always next time Quote
jaystraw Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 The pickeral bite is ON for sure! I catch about 4 huge ones every time I go fishing now. I had my senko taken twice by big pickeral too. I've had some good luck the past couple trips out in the afternoons. I caught a really nice 3lb LM on a senko under a tree the other day and a bunch of fat smallmouth. The F-11 and senkos were both working. Today, I went out in my brand new canoe and I caught a 4 lb 1 oz LM on a senko, again under a tree, and in the same area I caught the 3 pounder. It fought like crazy and jumped 3 times!! I also caught a couple fat smallmouth. All on senkos today. It's nice that senkos are working for me again!!! Quote
spin king Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 jaystaw - are you wacky rigging those senkos? Â what size? Â I went out for a few hours this morning on Bow Lake. Â I saw 7 or 8 LM cruising around, and a couple in the act, but none of them wanted anything I was throwing (senkos, rattle-trap, rapalas, spinner bait, etc...). Â It was pretty windy, but nice to get the boat on the water again. Quote
jaystraw Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 I fish 4'' senko t-rigged on 3/0 or 4/0 EWG hooks. Iknow a lot of people like 5'', but I do well in clear water with a bit smaller profile. I never fish them wacky...I always get hung up or do not seem to get as many bites. I know a lot of people have a lot of sucess with wacky, but I just prefer t-rigged. I actually had a good day today at a pond up north. A few 3 pounds and a few 2 pounders and a few smallies. They were caught on everything. Heddon Torpedos, senkos, Rapala F-11 and F-9 and F-7. If you found the fish today at this place, (they were pretty shallow under cover and in laydowns) they were eating what you were throwing. It was awesome. Quote

llPa1nll Posted May 13, 2008 Author Posted May 13, 2008 Ya she was. i'll get her again though, released unharmed, its a small pond not fished heavily at all, kinda hidden luckily, next time i'll have the scale ready lol. That pond wouldnt be in Epping would it? Quote

jaystraw Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 I went out today and got blown around by the wind for a couple hours. Â Caught 3 huge pickeral, but no bass. Â I could not give it a real effort though...it was too d**n windy. Quote
wagn Posted May 16, 2008 Posted May 16, 2008 went out Thursday for 4 hours. I took my mom out for Mother's day and bought her a fishing license. It's the first time she's ever been out bass fishing. So of course I set her up with a watermelon senko. Not a bad a day, i caught 10, and she caught her first 2 fish. All of them were small, but once i figured out that the small ones were up real shallow we just fished for them all day. I'd rather my mom catch a couple of small ones on her first time out, then spend all day fishing for just 1 or 2 good bites. My mom brought a 12 dollor combo that she bought at walmart. It broke in the first 1/2 hour. That's when i set her up with a nice st croix and diawa combo. She couldn't believe the difference. Â ;D Also saw 2 beds up real shallow, water was 60 degrees. No bass on them, but they are the first beds i've seen this year Quote
jaystraw Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 Had a great weekend this weekend. Most fish were shallow in wood cover yesterday, but today there were fish on beds. No eggs, but both males and females hanging around them. I had good luck on senkos, Rapala f-11 and torpedos. ..also on some black plastic lizards. Â Good weekend! Quote
baboosicbass08 Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 hey guys got out last night after the celtics barely finished off the cavs, there was still some daylight, well not the best night of fishing but we did come within about 35 yards of a cow moose. The place we were fishing is down in a valley i guess you could call it, not a very big place you can walk all around it and we were fishing from shore i heard something walking in the woods look up to see a cow moose standing still looking at me then he took off up a hill i than looked over to my buddy on the otherside of the pond and he starts walking back to us so we meet him halfway and he starts saying dude you'll never guess what i just saw lol... let me guess a moose... apparently when it ran from where i was it ran over the hill and crossed the pond in a shallow section, started walking towards my other friend, than when it saw him, it booked it in the woods. pretty interesting sight. heres a pic of one of the only fish Quote
jaystraw Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 Nice fish. Â Wilton Reservioir? Anyone else seeing bass on the beds yet? Â What's the status in your area? Quote
llPa1nll Posted May 21, 2008 Author Posted May 21, 2008 Had a real tough day on Canobie on Sunday. We caught 3 real early and the bite seemed to elude us the rest of the day. We saw dozens and dozens of beds, but no bass were on them or in the area. We got our 3 fish up shallow. Water temps were 56°F Im guessing they havent made it up there yet to stick on the beds. Quote
fisher of bass Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 hello everyone went out last thurs. no beds but 3 bass and 3 pickeral, 1 of the bass was 3.7# caught on a ragetail shad gold bling,6' of water, funny thing was i caught the three pick and this 3.7# after i burned the shad i killed it and let it sink then slam. caught the other two bass on a senko wacky Quote
KlubbaT Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 Hey all, new to forum. Â Was wondering if anyone knew of any cabins up in Northern Nh for rent. Â Looking for a place on a good lake, with big bass, and great scenery (mountains etc.). Â Need a place that will sleep 6+. Â Any suggestions? Quote
