wagn Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 Went out to a private pond in Merrimack today really just to take a walk with my wife and kid. But since I was near water I brought a rod and a bag of senko's just in case. I ended up catching 22 bass in 50 minutes of fishing. It was crazy. Nothing big at all, but every cast or at worst every other cast caught me a fish. The only thing that kept me from catching more was the time it took me to re-rig the senko after it slid up the line. I've never been to a place where no matter where you throw a lure it caught a fish...very strange. Quote
wagn Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 man, what a day. I already posted the first fishing adventure of the day, over 20 bass in an hour. And then I took out my new boat for a test run at turee Pond in Concord I caught a 5 pounder. I've never caught anything even remotely nice at that place before. Â Not a bad day at all. Hope everyone else is having as much luck as I am. Â Tight lines -Chuck Quote
baboosicbass08 Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 Fished the reservoir from shore today caught a couple largemouth heres a pic of one of them. Quote
jaystraw Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 Hey jaystraw, soft plastics and jigs have been doing it for me lately. Tubes and creatures for plastics for the most part as I'm trying to break my senko habit. It's hard because they catch fish but I'm trying to broaden my horizons so I'm throwing more of what I hear are great baits but haven't worked for me so far...especially jigs. Now that I'm catching fish regularly with them I'm finding them harder to put down. Thanks for the info. Â It's funny because I'm trying to break my crankbait habit, and have been trying to get into soft plasitcs and jigs. Â It's not going well for me, even though I hear stories every day about how much fish they catch (as evidenced by your post ) Â I have a lot of luck with topwaters and crankbaits, but none with plasitics. Â I have a LOT to learn. Quote
baboosicbass08 Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 Heres one from baboosic not too long ago caught this one and he already had a stringer on him. lol. he was released. Quote
Yakfish Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 Got out of work around 4:30 this afternoon and since I still had the kayak strapped to the roof and the rain had stopped I got off at the Canobie Lake exit and hit the water for an hour. That hour of fishing confirmed what I had already suspected: I have GOT to spend more time on this lake. In the first 15 minutes I caught two 3+ lb'ers on the same jig that got beat up by a couple of largies at the Wilton reservoir yesterday evening (must have missed you baboosic) and two more 1-2lber's on a t-rigged GYCB Kreature. Of course my camera was sat home still connected to the computer after I downloaded some pics yesterday. Â Oh well, still a great finish to my workday. Quote
baboosicbass08 Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 sounds good nhguy sounds like a good jig feel free to share what it is with me lol. there are some decent sized ones in the reservoir my buddy and i got a couple decent largemouths there today. we should fish together at the reservoir sometime if u want i'll be up there alot now lol Quote
llPa1nll Posted August 8, 2007 Author Posted August 8, 2007 Hey fellow NH Bassers, Looks like you guys are getting them good and often now. I haven't been out recently pretty much this past Sunday and only for a half day after 7pm. I had an unfortunate "run in" with one of those "I own the lake" mentality pleasure boaters, that got me wanting to follow him to his dock and lay him out. After coming within 25ft of my boat sending out 2-3ft wake, I yelled "How about giving us a little room here". Which he then throttled the gas and then proceeded to run about 30mph doing a donut around my bass boat. All of which while he had what looked like to be his grandson in the back of the boat. Next time I venture out on this lake I am taking a camera and if necessary sending the pics and bow numbers to Marine Patrol. This has really got me steamed and thats not the right frame of mind to be out on the water. Quote
Walkingboss Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 I think I'd have been arrested that day after I chucked a 1/2 oz. jig at the idiot's head. > Or perhaps I would've found his dock and did a little snorkeling that night, if you know what I mean  His waterline might be a little lower the next day. : Quote
baboosicbass08 Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 just wondering what u guys have luck with later in the afternoon because thats when the bite slows for me thanks. Quote
wagn Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 that's funny baboosic, because it's exactly the opposite for me. The morning bite has been mostly dead, but in the afternoon i've been killing them. Mostly with soft plastics and jigs Quote
wagn Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 here are a couple of pics from my last couple of outings. The first if from scobie pond, and the second from turtle pond in concord Quote
baboosicbass08 Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 went to reservoir today but got nothing, for a place where theres no swimming there sure are a lot of people that swim there. Wasn't even fishing for 10 mins and people started swimming jumping off the rope swings there which i found odd because theres no swimming but theres 2 rope swings?????? u ever have that problem nhguy? Also, hows the fishing at canobie i've heard good stuff from this site, are there good spots there that are not that far from the boat ramp because i would be with a friend in a inflatable boat, any tips ????? thanks Quote
jaystraw Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 nice pics wagn!! We went to a little pond in Sutton the other night and my buddy pulled a 5 to 6 lb bass out. Â The thing was HUGE!!!!!! Â Caughgt on a Watemellon Zoom worm. I've got a pic around here somewhere. Â It was 19 inches long and 12 inches around, but we did not have a scale. Quote

Since this is Salem's water supply, they are very strict about enforcing the "No Human Contact with the Water". The signs are posted and are enforced, I have read in the paper where Water Front residents in Windham(who do not get their water from the lake) have been fined for taking a swim on a hot day. So unless your inflatable 1 man boat permits you to stay totally dry I would rethink the idea of bring this type of boat into Canobie Lake. Im just giving all here a warning dont want to hear about you guys getting into trouble. Good luck and tight lines. Quote

I just know my luck from when I used to do that sort of stuff when I was younger that I would get caught. What I am thinking of doing is bringing a camera out with me the next time I go out on that lake. Also Im partial to asking a Marine Patrol agent to come aboard my boat and just sit and observe the unsafe boating on the lake. My father when told of the story asked if I wanted to borrow his 12gauge shotgun to go and remedy the problem one night. Quote
wagn Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 Thanks Jaystraw, let me know if you still want to head out monday. I'm always up for fishing catching 6 pounders. Quote
baboosicbass08 Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 Its not a 1 man inflatable it holds 4 ppl, its a seahawk 400 inflatable boat its just like any other canoe/jon boat i wouldn't get wet that should be fine right? went to reservoir today but got nothing, for a place where theres no swimming there sure are a lot of people that swim there. mdntridr Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 Revisited the Wilton Reservoir again this evening with my brother. Â I've spent 2 weeks up in Maine practicing my Texas and Carolina rig technique and it paid off this time. Â We were there from about 7:30-8:30 (btw, saw three guys in a square stern canoe having a good time...anyone here?) and I caught 4 larries on the t-rig watermelon senko. Â My bro got 2 on the hula popper. Â I had a solid 3-pounder, a 2.5 and the other 2 in the 1lb range. Â Lots of fun and a fine way to end a day of hard labor Quote
jaystraw Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 Thanks Jaystraw, let me know if you still want to head out monday. I'm always up for fishing catching 6 pounders. I wish I was the one that caught it, but I was even happy just to help get it would of the water because it was so big! Â It also made me start fishing plastics and critters, but no luck so far. I had a great weekend at the Moore Reservoir in Littleton and a smaller pond in Whitefield NH. Â Caught a lot of bass, and a couple really big perch. Â Funny thing was, I could not buy a bite on almost any other lure than a yellow Jitterbug all day yesterday. Quote
baboosicbass08 Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 I was there until just before 7 30, must have just missed eachother when i left i saw the 3 ppl getting the canoe ready, only got a couple small ones from shore. were u fishing from shore? mdntridr Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 Ya, the 3 guys in the canoe with the trolling motor were just getting started when we got there so it must have just been by minutes that we missed each other. jaystraw Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 wagn and I went out last night on his nice new boat in Bow and I got skunked, but wagn got a few. Â One that weighed 2 lb 5 oz, but it sure looked a LOT bigger than that. Â Spinnerbait was the name of the game yesterday. Â I tossed out plastics, spinners, crankbaits and topwaters over the course of 4 hours and got nothing but some strikes. Â wagn had better luck on big spinnerbaits. Slow day overall, but it was a good time! Â Thanks wagn!! Quote
