Walkingboss Posted July 19, 2008 Posted July 19, 2008 Howdy all..... It's been forever since I've been on. Fishing's been killer this year as I've been focusing mainly on Merrymeeting Lake. Many smallies over 3 and one whopper at 6.4 lbs.! Must fish DEEEEEEEP. Â Also spent 8 days in Minnesota and averaged 75-100 smallies a day with the wife. Â Good Pike and Lake Trout too. Anyway, I'm off to Umbagog Aug.15th. Never fished it before. Known for many Smallies. Any advice??? Taking my 19' bass rig....Will I sink it? Lots of shallow water and rocks....Also rumor of Musky. I know there are Pike. Any verification on the Muskies would be nice. Will upload some smallie pics this weekend. Quote
baboosicbass08 Posted July 19, 2008 Posted July 19, 2008 Awesome fish wagn. glad you guys had a good day. Welcome back walkingboss glad to hear your doing well. Quote

KlubbaT Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Went to Great Pond (Kingston) today from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.  Caught  only 2 fish.  1 2lb. LM and my 1st horned pout catch.  Funky lookin fish who tried to bite my finger.  Didn't weigh him but he was 12-14 inches long and pretty fat.  Got both using watermellon/black fat ikas.  Going to Pawtuckaway tomorrow if weather permits. Â Good luck...I've always wanted to hit it up. Quote
wagn Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 got out the other day with my dad and had a pretty tough day. We finished with about 11 fish but there was no pattern i could figure out. It was just random catching and it was actually somewhat frustrating. I think i'd rather catch 4 fish all day but know why i caught them then 11 and feel like i'm just throwing randomly at water. I guess i'm just crazy that way on a good note I caught my first catfish. 1.5lbs on a 6 inch lizard carolina rigged. thought I had a good bass on the line but turned out I just caught dinner instead Quote
KlubbaT Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Hey guys, I'm planning a camping trip for the 1st week of Aug. Â I'm looking for a place that has great bass fishing. Â Was planning on camping at Pawtuckaway since it is close by but haven't had much luck fishing there. Â I don't mind driving far up in to NH though. Â Want a nice place to kick back, drink some beers, Â swim, and CATCH SOME NICE BASS. Â Any recomendations will be apreciated. Â Â Quote
baboosicbass08 Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Hey Klubbat i noticed in your earlier post that you  said you did not own a boat. I went camping the 4th of July weekend at Greenfield State Park and the fishing there was excellent. During the day the have canoe rentals so you could rent one for the day and get out to the rest of the lake to get em, and i was doing excellent night fishing from the campers beach on top water. We started at like 8 pm and fished real late and we were doing awesome, didn't catch anything too big but most were in 2 lb range biggest was probably a little over 3lbs but we didn't weigh any because that woulda taken time out catching more thats how good we were doing lol. Its fairly cheap too. Its $24 for 2 adults/2 children a night and then $10 for each extra adult Quote
KlubbaT Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Thanks Baboosic! Â I will check that place out. Quote
baboosicbass08 Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 Np if you have any other questions about the campground let me know. -Dave Quote
KlubbaT Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 1 question. Â Are there lots of families there that go to bed early and might complain about noise or are there a lot of younger people partying there? Quote
baboosicbass08 Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 They are supposed to have a 10pm-7am quiet hours but when i went the fourth of july weekend everyone was up basically all night and we never got yelled at or anything. Hope this helps... Quote
baboosicbass08 Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 Got out today with wagn in new boston and did well as far as numbers go, had a 20+ day but the biggest was probably just over 1 lb lol. I also managed to get a smallmouth as well. But wagn had the better day catching a snail and a mussel lol. Just goes to show carolina rig catches all... Largemouth, smallmouth, bluegill, mussells haha...And we did get a pretty huge bluegill too it had to have been right around a pound, don't know what his plans were though trying to eat a 6" lizard thats was way to big for his mouth ;D Quote
KlubbaT Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 Dam mussells! Â I've been catchin too many of those things over at Great Pond. The 1st time was funny but after that they get annoying. Â Caught 2 of them this morning. Quote
NEbassMaster Posted July 25, 2008 Posted July 25, 2008 Grew up in Hudson, left for the Mighty Mighty Marine Corps, got out after 8 years and lived in San Diego/Southern Cali for close to 13 years, moved back east, but now I'm "temporarily" living in Mass...I know, I know. :'( I mainly fish in NH still. Â I love Gumpas Pond in Pelham, fished it my whole life and I've never been skunked. Â Awesome place for Pickerel and of course Bass. Â Pulled a 7lb'r out of there this season. However, lately I've been fishing some swamps just over the border in Mass. and have killed. Â Quote
wagn Posted July 25, 2008 Posted July 25, 2008 NEbassmaster, welcome to the forum. Baboosic, thanks for the good trip out. Nothing big but we did pretty good w/ numbers after awhile. and thanks for the carolina rig confidence. Even though we didn't catch anything big, the last trip was really good for me because i was finally able to fish offshore w/ confidence and catch fish consistantly. The carolina rig really helped w/ this since i was able to really feel what was going on w/ my bait. Once i located an a weed bed in about 12 feet of water we started catching consistantly Quote
llPa1nll Posted July 29, 2008 Author Posted July 29, 2008 Hey all, Nice fish Wagn, well yet again real life has been putting a big damper on my fishing time I need to fix that problem. Anyway got out this past Sunday for a few hours for some dreadful fishing on Horseshoe pond. we were on the water from 8-12:30 and I got 1 fish about 9inches long, pathetic. My fishing partner went skunked. Saw some huge carp I thought I could put a saddle on and ride around the lake. Better luck next time out. Hope you guys are catching them better than I have been lately. I just havent been getting time out on the water. Quote
Fuzzy101prf Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 I pulled this guy out of dorris pond this morning! he was a fighter! decent little guy.. Quote
wagn Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 nice fish fuzzy Man am I frustrated. Just looked at the weather for the next week in NH, and every day that I can go out has lighting storms and everyday that i'm working is nice and sunny. I love to fish in the rain but not in lightning. Just cancelled for tomorrow with a buddy after checking the weather. don't want to drive all the way out to pick him up, then to the lake just to be stuck at the ramp all morning. Sucks > Quote
spin king Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 If you are going out in the morning, don't worry about it. Â How many lightening storms have you seen in NH in the morning? Â It's always the afternoon/evening. I feel your pain though, because late afternoon/evening is when I get my opportunities to go out....so I haven't been out too much lately. Quote
KlubbaT Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Anyone here fish Tower Hill Pond in Auburn, NH? Quote
wagn Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 never been to Auburn Klubba.....is that little massebesic (sp?) in your photo? Got out in concord this morning. Caught 8 fish in 2 hours and a total of 4 different species. 4 Bass, a pickeral, a yellow perch, and i'm pretty sure a crappie. I'll post a pic of the crappie later. I caught it on my first ever bronzeye-frog bite. Had a couple of blowups as well. I had one fisht pick apart my yamamoto creature limb by limb. First one arm, then the other, then the skirt. It was pretty funny. Must have been one sneaky bluegill or something. Turned out to be a great morning before having to go to work all day. Hope everyone else is getting out and catching hawgs Quote
baboosicbass08 Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 Hey guys got out all day today, got on the water a little before 8 and left the water about a half hour ago, Went to Skatatukee Lake in harrisville this morning from 8 to a little after 5, caught about 3 largemouth between two of us and maybe 6-7 smallies between both of us, which was the first time i've ever gotten more than one smallmouth in the same day, but it was a pretty slow day on the lake there, so we left there after 5 and went to sunset lake and did excellent on topwater, fished it from about 6-11ish caught alot of decent sized fish. Kinda bummed we couldn't get any pike at skatatukee was looking forward to at least getting one, but i'll settle for smallies for now Quote
