Tokyo Tony Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 Cool, I'll have to check it out above the dam there. Is there any way to fish from shore above the dam, and if so, is it worth it? How long of a boat ride is it from the launch to any good fishing spots, or is it pretty much all good? Quote

How long of a boat ride is it from the launch to any good fishing spots, or is it pretty much all good? There are areas along the shore to fish, but not ideal because you can't cover a lot of ground that way. There are plenty of ramps. There's a nice one just above the dam on vermont side in Wilder, another small one here in Hanover, and others along the river heading further north (marked on state maps). Quote
llPa1nll Posted January 8, 2008 Author Posted January 8, 2008 Anyone dare to venture out on the ice? Anyone having any luck out on the ice? Anyone seen a fish? Im going stir crazy, can you tell? Quote
jaystraw Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 I went ice fishing for the first time on Gile Pond in Sutton last weekend. I have pretty good luck there in the summer, but we did not see any bass this day. My friend did catch a couple perch and a decent pickeral. It was pretty fun, but what a lot of work for so little payoff! Quote
llPa1nll Posted January 16, 2008 Author Posted January 16, 2008 Went down to BPS on sunday. All I can say is wow. While they didnt have what I was looking for the mere size of the store and its layout is very impressive. If you do go fishing just take a look around plenty to see. Quote
wagn Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 I also just came back from a trip to Bass Pro shops. Man that store is nice to have within driving distance. Got a lot of cool little things that you can't get in the stores around here. Plus i like to hold and look at something before i buy it. I've never been a big fan of internet shopping. Overall a pretty good day. I got to go to BPS and then had to go to IKEA for the wife. ;D Quote
Tokyo Tony Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 I'll be in the Hanover area Feb 8-10...any chance there are streams/rivers that aren't frozen over? Any of you guys catch any trout this time of year up there, or is it not even worth taking my fishing stuff up? CT has been pretty good for trout this winter... Quote
llPa1nll Posted January 29, 2008 Author Posted January 29, 2008 I hear reports that my home lake has 10-14inches of ice on it. I dont know of anywhere that doesnt have ice except on the outflow of the powerplant in Bow. Your better off bringing ice skates, skis, and snowboard will get more use out of those. Quote
llPa1nll Posted February 11, 2008 Author Posted February 11, 2008 Hey guys, I am starting to get ready I have a trip down south and you can bet I am bringing some gear down to go fishing. I am headed off to the Savannah Ga area, for the last week of Feb. Wish me luck on sticking some southern bass. I just couldnt take the cold weather anymore... Quote
llPa1nll Posted February 20, 2008 Author Posted February 20, 2008 29 more days till the official first day of Spring how are you my fellow NH fishermen holding out this winter? How are you guys surviving the long winter? Has anyone been spotted outside tossing lures into snowbanks yet? Quote
Dean Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 Hey guys, I posted in this thread a while ago, back when my username was dbrev42. As you can see it is now my name, Dean. ;D Spring is coming, can't wait to get some bassin done! I live in Mass, but spend all my summer weekends in New Hampshire bassin on Mascoma Lake. Winter can't end soon enough ;D Quote
Yakfish Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 29 more days till the official first day of Spring how are you my fellow NH fishermen holding out this winter? How are you guys surviving the long winter? Has anyone been spotted outside tossing lures into snowbanks yet? Hurtin' bad man...need a fix. It's still snowing as I write this, we've gotten about 6-8" since this morning. Good thing I ski too or I'd be crawling the walls! Quote
jaystraw Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 I've been tempted to start throwing a lure into the open water on some of the rivers, but then I wonder how I'll get it back through all that ice to the shore. I'm dying to get out there and my cabin fever is geting to an explosive point. This winter MUST END!! Quote
SenkoBasser Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 There's a fast moving river running thru Fitchburg, MA. I have to work out there on Monday. I think I might bring my gear and take an extra long lunch break. Quote
wagn Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 The Fishin fever has gotten so bad that i've been tying large hookless rubber worms and been practicing flippin and pitchin them at my 7 month old son. He loves trying to grab them on the carpet Quote
Kozak Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 Hey guys I'm from MA but I spend about a month of my Summer up in NH. I'm sure one of these if not both has been mentioned already but does anyone here fish Lake Winnipesaukee or Lake Kanasatka (North of Winni)? Lake Winni gets a little crowded with boat traffic and I've really only fished it from the docks, having most luck with SMBs at night and early mornings, Lake K on the other hand hardly has anyone on it and seems to have a decent LMB and SMB population. Quote
llPa1nll Posted March 3, 2008 Author Posted March 3, 2008 Hey guys got back Saturday from my southern trip to get some warm weather and fishing in. I caught them up as good as I could hope too with the conditions presented to me. I found that the fish were just starting to move onto their beds but witht he fronts that came through they were pushed off. I was just happy to get my line wet and hook some fish. COME ON SPRING!!!! Quote
jaystraw Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 glad someone is fishing Kozak: Thanks for that tip about Kanasatka!! It looks like a nice little sleeper lake between squam and winni...i'm going to give it a shot. Quote
llPa1nll Posted March 7, 2008 Author Posted March 7, 2008 With this warmer weather and loads of rain I am sure that the ice is melting. If anyone sees any open water be sure to call it out. Good luck and come on spring! Quote

Good luck and come on spring! Will do. Just hoping that I don't see too much open water in my back yard or basement. Quote
Dean Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 Here in Western MA, our back yard is turning into a swimming pool Quote
Tokyo Tony Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 Hey New Hampsha guys - what's the ice situation up there? Is any of it melting or is it still thick? I am looking so forward to catching smallies up there this spring/summer/fall. Quote
llPa1nll Posted March 14, 2008 Author Posted March 14, 2008 The wait continues. I went by my home waters this AM and well there is a 2-3ft band of this ice around the perimeter of the lake it looks like but the middle is still socked in thick with ice. It looks ike we might be starting the season in NH in April. :'( > > :'( Quote

I'm anxious to head out to my smallie waters up there - just bought a 9' pontoon boat that's gonna be perfect Hopefully you guys will get a week or two of freakish 70 degree weather or something to melt all that ice.
