Bass Grant Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 I am from Connecticut and I was wondering for any of you other Connecticut fisher men what lake you find the best for bass fishing around here! Quote
backwater4 Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 CT has a ton a great fishing. Candlewood is probably the biggest w/ many different patterns and cover available. I also like Highland and Twin. I'm from NY, but do most of my fishing in Ct. Quote
Bass Grant Posted March 16, 2010 Author Posted March 16, 2010 Yeah I have heard a lot about Candlewood I have not fished it yet but I plan on going this season...what kind of structure do they have there.. a lot of grass beds..rocks?? Quote
Super User Tin Posted March 16, 2010 Super User Posted March 16, 2010 Amos, Beach, Candlewood, Glasgo, Pachaug, Twin....Lots of great areas. I love the CT River around and north of Hartford. Quote
backwater4 Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 Candlewood has a lot of grass, humps, foundations, points and rocks. Anything and any type of cover/structure you like to fish is in there. Tin, I really like the Conn. River, but only fished it out of Haddam. It has some really good fishing, but it's a haul from Long Island, unless I have a tournament there. I like Zoar too, I know many people don't. I find I like the river type fishing and when they flow water, the fish bite real well. Quote
fishizzle Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 where you from Bass Grant? There are some small lakes around that are too small for tourneys but have good fishing if you're local to them. That is before they weed over. I'm from Ellington Quote
zah310 Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 Anybody catching them yet? I got out over the weekend when the temps were in the 70s, couple on a suspending jerkbait towards the end of the day in about 3 to 7 feet of water but still very slow. Quote
Craiger12 Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 I have managed to get a few on a LC Pointer 78 in Ghost Minnow and slammed one that went 3lb 8oz on a black/blue jig with a chigger craw trailer at a couple small ponds near me. Still painfully slow though. I fished that jig for over an hour before I got that one hit. It's a good thing I landed her or I would have lost my mind. Quote
