flippin4it. Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 I like the Grizzly Long Cut Mint. I put a big dip of it in my lip. Then, using the same fingers I slide a Case Plastics Jack's Worm on a 2/0 Gammy. I'm starting to think that the Maine bronzebacks have a little nicotine problem too. Glad to see the Jacks Worm is paying off..........in mint that is! Quote
The_Natural Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 I don't feel scent attracts bass from long distances like advertisements claim. I think it just helps them hold on a bit longer, or PERHAPS commit more often when they are near a lure. +1 It definitely prevents sampling. I don't use scent on reaction baits, but all plastics and jigs get scent. I like the convience of arerosols, but have been using the baitmate gel lately and it rocks! I put a little ribbon of gel on my plastic, and smear it around with my finger. It is a little annoying to have to wipe off my finger, but this stuff lasts an unbelievable amount of time. At least 45min with constant fishing. I scored about 15 bottles on clearance at walmart for a dollar. Jigs still get spray...Jack's Juice Garlic right now. I honestly buy whatever is on sale. I like Yum, Bang, Jack's Juice, and even Baitmate aerosol. Baitmate's bass formula actaually smells like shad versus the old gamefish version that was pretty much just anise scent. Quote
Super User Catt Posted March 9, 2008 Super User Posted March 9, 2008 I use attractants for two purposes First as a lubricant; I fish in grass a lot and it helps my plastic baits slide through easier. Second is to mast any odor my plastic may have pick up. I use Fish Formula II or Baitmate (clear) with a ½ oz of pure anise oil added Quote
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted March 9, 2008 Super User Posted March 9, 2008 I've always wondered what MegaStrike smells like? Garlic? Anise? Other? Quote
hdbass Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Last year was the first time I used any kind of scent, and I never will be sure , but my friend and I had the best luck ever fishing out of our usual lake. Quote
Branuss04 Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 I use mega strike in the summer when the bite gets tough +1 Quote
MaxDal Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 I use MegaStrike on the trailer of my jigs and on plastics. Still I seldom use it when fun-fishing, but almost always if I'm fishing a tournament. I've no idea whether it works on fish or not, but I know it works on my confidence...... As long as it doesn't hurt my fishing. Quote
