NEOhioLargemouth Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Hello, First off, I am new to the site but have gained a ton of helpful/interesting information, so thanks to all. Secondly, my name is Marc and I have migrated from Central Oklahoma to Northeast Ohio, and although I have been in Ohio for 6 years now, I still am having trouble finding spots that produce not only large fish but numerous fish. If anyone lives in NE Ohio or has fished the area I would love to learn about any spots located in Ohio, Mich., PA, or any other areas relatively close to my area. Thanks, and I look forward to reading any responses. Quote

JF1 Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 shenango, pymy, mosquito, erie, ladu, mogadore, berlin, milton...there are a TON of great bass lakes in NE ohio! Ohiogamefishing.com Should get great responses there! Quote
little_stephen Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 I agree with the above! theres TONS of good lakes for Bass here. problem is they arent the monsters u might be looking for Ud be insane not to go up to sandusky bay and get out for smallies on erie! world class smallmouth expierence! besides that. it all depends on wht u want to do for the fish. lol Ladue is good. Mosquitto is a GREAT lake. Mogadore Resv is electric only but has some monsters by ohio standards becasue so few people wanna deal with not being allowed to have a gas motor on their boat to get to them. and the portage lakes are another great one! i just moved to Cuyhoga Falls in the Fall. and im on a small lake that seems promising. if it turns out good ull have to come down and fish it. and If u want someone to explore Portage Lakes with. take me along! i dont have a boat! lol keep us posted. the NEO community of bassers isnt big. so if u find something wed love to know! HoggBoss Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 Hey guys, I have lived in NE Ohio all my life and used to bass fish a lot but traded it in for golf about 15 years ago. Well, me and my 10 handicap are back! lol.. There's nothing peaceful or relaxing about the game of golf.. not for me anyway. Not any more. Anyway, I've been out of "the hunt" for a long time and am also looking for a good "home" lake in the area. Before I went on hiatus, I used to fish East Branch almost exclusively, but I have heard next to nothing about it during my lurking over the last couple of months. I'm assuming it's dead now. I do know the City of Akron used to fluctuate the level a LOT at times and I heard someone state not long ago that it was down 14 feet last year! I have been doing a lot of web research over the last few months and have been hearing great things about Mosquito's apparent turn-around over the last few years. I read a report that said there are multitudes of 3-4 pounders being taken and some lucky guy even got a 8 pound pig last year! The only problem is that that is one big lake.. and it's unrestricted. I wonder how well my 16ft aluminum mod-V jon would handle it. I have a 9.9 for it but haven't tested it yet to see how it runs. I'm in the process of doing a conversion on it, so I don't yet know how high it will ride. I also tend to prefer the serentiy and quiet of an electric-only lake. In that regard, I've been hearing good things about LaDue, Mogadore, and Nimisilla. I visited LaDue a couple times back in the day, but have never been to either of the other two. If my boat conversion is done in time, I am considering joining a LaDue-only tournament series that consists of 8 total tournaments over the course of the season, so that would provide a good deal of exposure to that lake.. plus it's the closest one to where I live. I can't remember which, but I keep hearing that either Moggy or Nimi has LOTS of weed growth and that has me strongly considering picking up a decent frog rod here real soon! Anyway, I too am always keeping my eyes peeled for any input anyone might have and I hope some of what I've read and relayed here might be of help to someone. Tight Lines! Quote
