Steve_in_Maine Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 What are some good LM or SM fishing lakes or ponds in Southern Maine. We have already been to Great East Lake, Mousam Lake, Little Ossipee, Little Sebago Lake, and Lake Arrowhead. What are some other great hot spots in York County or Cumberland County? Thanks, Steve Quote
unhbass37 Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 Steve try Forest Lake in Cumberland. My wifes uncle lives on it and was told it is good LMB fishing. Now I'm not sure if it's private or not but you could check. I have never fished it, Just a thought. Quote
Steve_in_Maine Posted September 26, 2009 Author Posted September 26, 2009 We are talking about Kennebunk pond or hitting the Saco River above Skelton dam. But I just want some ideas to throw out next time we are heading out, which is Monday. Steve Quote
Steve_in_Maine Posted September 28, 2009 Author Posted September 28, 2009 Went to Ossipee again today.............bites were hard to come by. Caught 2 LM on a white spinnerbait, and 1 LM on a crankbait about 10-12 feet down. Also caught a pickeral on the white spinnerbait. My buddy caught 1 LM on a worm, 1 LM on a chartruese spinnerbait, and 1 SM on the same spinnerbait. Overall a good day on the water. Steve Quote
MEbasserJQ Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 I went to little ossippee last saturday and I didn't do that well. I caught 1LM and 1SM. Lm on a white spinnerbait and SM on a jig. I did find a spot where there was many smallmouth followers. I just couldn't get them to bite. This was is on a flat in 25' of water. Have you tried the saco river in standish/limington stretch above the dam. Great LM and SM area. They have fixed the dam so the water level should have risen up enough so the fishing is good. Quote
Steve_in_Maine Posted October 2, 2009 Author Posted October 2, 2009 We are going to try the Saco river, just not sure when. We are planning on putting in at Skelton Dam in Dayton and heading north from there. Is there LM or SM in the river? Bunganut pond is another place we want to try, but the access boat launch is closing Columbus day weekend. I need to get back into shore fishing since my buddy works more then I do. Just need to find some good spots to fish from shore. Steve Quote
Steve_in_Maine Posted October 5, 2009 Author Posted October 5, 2009 Think I'm going to do some shore fishing this week, not sure where to go since it's been so long since I did it. Anyone in the area have any good spots that are legal and good to fish from? Steve Quote
jrskblx125 Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 yeah i'm out here near conway NH in maine. going to the fryeburg fair. i've had some luck on the pond im staying on. Quote
Steve_in_Maine Posted October 9, 2009 Author Posted October 9, 2009 Heading to Mousam Lake this morning, see if we can get some fall bass in the boat. Season is coming to an end quick............getting very cold at night now. Steve Quote
Steve_in_Maine Posted October 15, 2009 Author Posted October 15, 2009 How are people doing now that the temps are dropping into the 20's at night? What's the hot lure that is still working? Hoping to get out for a couple more days before snow flies, looking for tips on what is still working. Steve Quote
hawgwalker Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 won't be long before it is silver buddy time Quote
MEbasserJQ Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 silver buddies don't work good in the chilly water Quote
duncan440ex Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 seems a white spinnerbait is working here in the midcoast area Quote
Steve_in_Maine Posted October 18, 2009 Author Posted October 18, 2009 White spinnerbait is what I normally use. Going to try and get out this week, probably Great East Lake, Mousam, or Ossipee. I have everything ready to try...........spinnerbaits, crank baits, tubes, jigs, worms.........you name it and we'll be ready to try it to catch some fish. Steve Quote
MEbasserJQ Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 what lake did you go to? Also how was the fishing? I went to Arrowhead saturday 10/17 and I didn't get a bite. Then I went to another lake and got skunked there too. I am gonna try the saco river this weekend. Quote
Steve_in_Maine Posted October 19, 2009 Author Posted October 19, 2009 My friend and his cousin went to Ossipee today, only caught 2 bass all day. That was on a white spinnerbait, in shallow water, around noon. I think I'm going out Wednesday with my buddy...........not sure where yet, but most likely Mousam, Great East, or Ossipee. We want to try the Saco River too. Put the boat in at Skelton dam, and fish up to the next dam in Hollis. Where are you located? Steve Quote
MEbasserJQ Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 Im located in York County I have never fished that stretch of the river that you and buddy want to try and fish. My friend always wants to try that stretch of the river out. But its too cold for him now. So Im prb fishing the rest of the season solo. Quote
Steve_in_Maine Posted October 21, 2009 Author Posted October 21, 2009 Gimme a shout..........I'll go with ya. I'm unemployed right now, so I have plenty of time to hit the water. No boat here, so I depend on my buddy to go with, or I hit some shores. Steve Quote
duncan440ex Posted October 25, 2009 Posted October 25, 2009 got the afternoon in on south pond in warren. a feww 3lbers an some smaller. wind kinda sucked Quote
Steve_in_Maine Posted October 27, 2009 Author Posted October 27, 2009 Might try and get out Friday..........supposed to be 60's and sunny. Probably be the last time in the boat, my buddy is a deer hunter and the season starts Saturday morning. Steve Quote
Steve_in_Maine Posted November 3, 2009 Author Posted November 3, 2009 My buddy put his boat up for the season, so it looks as though I'm done for the year. Oh well, time to stock up on tackle for next season. Steve Quote
duncan440ex Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 that sux, hoping to get a few more weekends in. Quote
Steve_in_Maine Posted November 19, 2009 Author Posted November 19, 2009 Anyone still fishing? Night temps are d**n cold, so the water must be getting very cold. I'm thinking about hitting some rivers and trying for some trout......they are biting good right now from what I've been told. Steve Quote
hawgwalker Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 Water is much warmer this season than most at this point in November. 48 degrees on Sebago yesterday Quote
MEbasserJQ Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 [steve_in_Maine Anyone still fishing?quote] my father in-law and I got out on the water last saturday. The water temp was around 44 degrees. we caught some perch and 6 smallies. They weren't bunch up like we were hoping for. Overall it was a great day of hanging out and fishing. Im not stopping till the water freezes over. Quote
