fireman14 Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 Hello everyone. I have an odd question maybe some of you might know the answer to. I live up here in Buffalo NY and fish at a decent size creek near my house. All summer I was catching huge large mouth bass, small mouth and perch. Well now all I am catching are Northern Pike and muskies. What happen to all the bass? I havent caught a pike or muskie all summer and now its all i catch. Dont get me wrong I'm thrilled about catching them but I just found it odd that there are no bass anymore. Anyone know? Quote
Bassnajr Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 In cold weather bass tend to slow down a bit. It's like this in the Northeast every year, but a little worse this year because of the "strange" summer. Try using a Senko, a T-rig worm, or a jig, and fish SLOW!! Good luck! Quote

Super User Crestliner2008 Posted November 10, 2009 Super User Posted November 10, 2009 When the water starts getting cold - down in the low 40's - you not only need to slow down your presentation, but you also need to downsize it as well. A 4" Senko vs. a 5". A small (1/4 oz.) jig & pig/plastic. A Fat Ika, reversed Tx rigged. All will get you bites. Quote
Brendan Duffy Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 Down here in Westchester County just outside NYC the fish are done in the shallows i think. I spent 6 hours yesterday without a bite. Im fishing from the bank so I think im done for the year too. Quote
bassnleo Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 The bass may have migrated to their wintering haunts. Usually that will be deeper, slower moving areas. In a local river here, the migration has taken place. Most if not all the bass in the system are out of the shallows and in a deep area. Been fishing that area and it has been really, really, fun. Still catching smallies in 45 degree water by draggin tubes and jigging blades. Quote
