EFFECTIVE Oct 1. as per new state budget.

Sec. 443. Section 26-28 of the general statutes is repealed and the following is substituted in lieu thereof (Effective October 1, 2009):

(a)  Except as provided in subsection

( of this section, the fees for firearms hunting, archery hunting, trapping and sport fishing licenses or for the combination thereof shall be as follows:

(1) Resident firearms hunting license, [fourteen] twenty-eight dollars;

(2) resident fishing license, [twenty] forty dollars;

(3) resident marine waters fishing license, thirty dollars;

(4) one-day resident marine waters fishing license, fifteen dollars;

(5) resident all-waters fishing license, fifty dollars;

(6) resident combination license to [firearms hunt and] fish in inland waters and firearms hunt, [twenty-eight] fifty-six dollars; [(4)]

(7) resident combination license to fish in marine waters and firearms hunt, fifty dollars;

(8) resident combination license to fish in all waters and firearms hunt, sixty dollars;

(9) resident combination license to fish in all waters and bow and arrow permit to hunt deer and small game issued pursuant to section 26-86c, as amended by this act, eighty-four dollars;

(10) resident firearms super sport license to fish in all waters and firearms hunt, firearms private land shotgun or rifle deer permit issued pursuant to section 26-86a, as amended by this act, and permit to hunt wild turkey during the spring season on private land issued pursuant to section 26-48a, as amended by this act, one hundred sixteen dollars;

(11) resident archery super sport license to fish in all waters, bow and arrow permit to hunt deer and small game issued pursuant to section 26-86c, as amended by this act, and permit to hunt wild turkey during the spring season on private land issued pursuant to section 26-48a, as amended by this act, one hundred four dollars;

(12) resident trapping license, [twenty-five] fifty dollars; [(5)]

(13) resident junior trapping license for persons under sixteen years of age, [three] fifteen dollars; [(6)]

(14) junior firearms hunting license, [three] fifteen dollars; [(7)]

(15) nonresident firearms hunting license, [sixty-seven] one hundred thirty-four dollars; [(8)]

(16) nonresident inland waters fishing license, [forty] eighty dollars; [(9)]

(17) nonresident inland waters fishing license for a period of three consecutive days, [sixteen] thirty-two dollars; [(10)]

(18) nonresident marine waters fishing license, sixty dollars;

(19) nonresident marine waters fishing license for a period of three consecutive days, twenty-four dollars;

(20) nonresident all-waters fishing license, one hundred dollars;

(21) nonresident combination license to firearms hunt and inland waters fish, [eighty-eight] one hundred seventy-six dollars; [and (11)]

(22) nonresident combination license to fish in all waters and firearms hunt, one hundred ninety dollars;

(23) nonresident combination license to fish in marine waters and firearms hunt, one hundred seventy dollars; and

(24) nonresident trapping license, two hundred fifty dollars. Persons sixty-five years of age and over who have been residents of this state for not less than one year and who meet the requirements of subsection ( of section 26-31 may be issued [a lifetime] an annual license to firearms hunt or to fish or combination license to fish and firearms hunt or a license to trap without fee. The issuing agency shall indicate on a combination license the specific purpose for which such license is issued. The town clerk shall retain a recording fee of one dollar for each license issued by him.

I have already heard of numerous clubs that will stay away from Connecticut because of this bs. I will no longer fish Connecticut.

Apparently we have a big deficit to pay for and cigarettes are going up another dollar.

I think it would be a better idea for the state to raise licenses $5 a year for a couple years instead of doubling it all at once.   It will definitely backfire when local and out of staters stop hunting and fishing here.  Also this will affect the sporting stores.

I don't have any choice, the Eastern Divisional is on Candlewood next year and I made our state team.  I hope your sales tax is a little lower than it was in Canada last year.

I love to dropshot the humps and deep points for smallmouth on Candlewood.  I wish that lake wasn't 1.5 hrs away.  I love that place.

Candlewood is a good size lake. If you want to come get a feel for it, you may need more then a day to explore. The license thing is crazy and if there was any way around it, i'd fish somewhere else next year as well!

Well how can you not tax the crap out of everything when 1/3 of all full-time employees in CT are government employees who don't actually produce a single thing?

I was discussing this with my club president yesterday planning our "T's" for next year. Living and fishing in Rhode Island, there are only so many ponds/lakes to fish. With the economy the way it is, how can you ask members to buy licenses at these costs? I am sure even the 1-7 day licenses are going up. Just another example of government putting it on the backs of the "little guys". At the very least, how about one license for the New England states? (reciprosity) And here in Rhode Island, I don't see any improvments at the ramps etc. It's a shame.

Well if our License fees went towards promoting and improving the states resources, as it pertains to bass fishing. I wouldnt have that much of a problem. The instate fishing lic for NH went up a few years ago it now stands at $37.50, out of state is a shade under $60.00 if I remember right. However my guess is that a large percentage of the license fees goes to the compensation package of the game wardens. NH doesnt have a stocking program for bass nor does it have a 'Lunker program'. However what the state does have is a shrinking population of accessible water for everyone. I live in a town of 4 small/medium sized ponds even being a resident I have no access to any of them. On one pond the town has a summer camp for kids but no boat access. As the fees go up and up less people will fish as it will become a financial burden.

There are more and more bodies of water that dont have 'true' public access. Having a boat ramp be named public should mean that anyone can use and park near or at the ramp. There are more and more bodies of water that claim a public access but dont allow out of town residents to park any where near the ramp. So what good is that? Sorry for the thread hijack and my rant. This is a sore subject for me.
