Pondtooner Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 What is a good color jig at night at Wallum. Hopefully this sat night I will be going back there.I really want to catch my first fish on a jig. Any pointers would be great. Thanks Quote
bassinri Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 As you probaably know black and green pumpkin are the best colors anytime but I especially like black anywhere at night. At night it's easier for a fish to see a dark color than a light one. They see the dark shadow type mass moving through the water better than a light colored one. Some companies have specific colored lures for night use such as Strike King with their Midnight Special spinnerbaits, that are all black. I use black worms, jigs, creaturebaits regularly and have excellent results. Good luck and be careful out there, or anywhere for that matter, night fishing. Quote
Bass Hole Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 As you probably remember from the get together the color is black with black super chunk but make sure you have a rattle on for wallum..no rattle no fish! fish them in 8 to 16 FOW let it get to the bottom and work the rattle....I use a 3/8 spider jig but I don't think the make and model will matter....good luck and catch em up Quote
Pondtooner Posted August 22, 2009 Author Posted August 22, 2009 Thanks guys I'll let you all know how we do. Quote
D3 Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Rocket did you get out on saturday night. Have not heard from you hope all is well give us the low down did you get that jig fish. D3 Quote
Pondtooner Posted August 24, 2009 Author Posted August 24, 2009 OK so maybe I'm just not ever going to catch a jig fish. Maybe I'm just not the jig kinda guy. No jig fish Sat night. Probably didn't help that my partner had a chubby to bring shinners. > All it did was slow us down. We didn't get to cover much ground which I think really killed us. Really slow night between the both of us we caught three fish and one probably wasn't even a keeper. I really have no clue about this jig thing. Maybe because we really dont use our fish finder properly. Trying to find rock piles was tough. On the up side the boat ramp was really funny to see all those people trying to get out of the water at the same time.Half of them have no common sense or courtesy.Half of that half can't back up a trailer to save their lives. If it wasn't so far from I would drive there just to get a good laugh. Thanks for trying guys Quote
