solexa23 Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 Trying to plan a smallmouth bass trip on this lake and I am looking for any and all information such as best time of year, locations, accommodations etc. I have never fished this lake before. What is the average size bass on this lake as I am looking for a quality vs quantity place. Thanks, Tommy Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 I was up there several years ago. The lake is shallow and weedy. It's better known for producing good size large mouth. I would think this would be a good time of year as the fish move shallow again. Thousand Islands are close by and has better smallie action I think. You could easily do a combo trip. Several good camps and cottages available. I stayed at Roger's Camp Cottages. Have fun & Good Luck! Quote
Super User J Francho Posted September 2, 2009 Super User Posted September 2, 2009 Spring and fall are your best bets for smallmouth on any water. Black Lake has a 15" minimum, and there are literally a million and one 14.75" fish. There are some hoss smallies there, too. Back at the end of June, a 4-6 smallie took lunker in our club tx there. I lost two that were that size or bigger at the boat. Lots of structure to fish there, so get a map and make a plan. Quote
