Big Phish Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 So this season I've been focusing on trying out as many different bodies of water as I can in my my general area. I kinda got comfortable in a couple different places but I feel like I should search for that perfect body of water. I live in north Bergen County and would be looking for a lake within an hour or so of where I live. I'm particularly interested in the Highland Lakes and the reservoirs in the Rt. 23/Clinton area. Here's where I've already fished in my area: The Monksville (AKA Skunksville) Green Turtle Pond Campgaw Pond Greenwood Lake Shepherds Lake Ramapo Lake Spruce Run Both the Lakes in the Ramapo Reservation Bear Swamp Lake Darlington Pond White's Pond Blue Lake (NY) Lake Hopatcong Pompton Lake Potash Lake I think that's pretty much it, although I'm sure I forgot a spot or two. Also I'd prefer if it was manageable with a kayak, but I'm pretty sure most lakes in NJ are besides like Greenwood and Hopatcong. Anyway thanks for reading, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Quote
Nick94 Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 Merrill Creek is a fun place and ive done the whole place with a kyak easily Quote
Zel Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 I second Merrill Creek. Round Valley Res might be too windy for a kayak. Swartswood and Aeroflex would interest you if you like fishing matted weeds. Here is a good resource for you: http://njbassanglers.com/places.php Quote
Big Phish Posted July 8, 2009 Author Posted July 8, 2009 Thanks guys... Zel, I was on njbassanglers until they started requiring donations to be a member, which is when I moved here. So I know about most of the spots in NJ I'm really just looking for some suggestions as far as what's hot. I've looked into Areoflex but have yet to fish it, but I forgot about Swartswood. You have any further info on that lake? Also I was recently recommended Silver Lake, which is off 23. Any experience there? Quote
bipr8 Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 This is the site everyone went to when the "other" site started demanding donations. http://www.bassnj.com/ Quote
D4u2s0t Posted July 10, 2009 Posted July 10, 2009 just keep in mind this time of year there's lots of people at the beaches in highland lakes, and if you don't have a car sticker they'll block you in and you'll be waiting for hours to get out. People get upset when they see someone without a parking sticker, especially when there's no spots left. aeroflex is good, but it's very deep. great trout lake. not sure where silver lake is, do you know anything more than it's just off 23? I hear swartswood lake is pretty good too, but I haven't fished it yet. Quote
