Jeff C. Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 any one know if the Jitter bug --original Heddon-- is still Avail. in Glow in the dark? thanks Much. Jeff Quote
Tokyo Tony Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 That I don't know, but if you really have to have a glow-in-the-dark jitterbug you could buy glow-in-the-dark paint. They make that type of paint specifically for lures. For more info you could probably post in the luremaking forum. To be honest though, a black jitterbug probably provides better contrast than a glow-in-the-dark one. Quote
Guest muddy Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 I thought the original Jitterbug was always produced by Arbogast. Can someone point to a link so I can see the Heddon offering. i wonder how much Arbogast changed them? My Favorite topwaters both by Arbogast JITTERSTICKS(discontinued :-[) JITTER BUG 5/8OZ BLACK Just checked the ARBOGAST site, it says they created the JITTERBUG Quote
michbass Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Still use the black jointed jitterbug with good success in the morning and late afternoon. Works great on certain lakes. If the moon is out at night even better from what I hear. Tried the frog color also and still not sure if I like as much as black. Quote
Super User Marty Posted March 7, 2008 Super User Posted March 7, 2008 Jitterbugs are still sold under the Arbogast name. Arbogast is one of a zillion or so companies that was bought by Pradco. http://www.lurenet.com/catalog.aspx?catID=ArbogastLures Quote
Jeff C. Posted March 7, 2008 Author Posted March 7, 2008 Yes, Arbogast invented the jitter bug.. I thought they were Heddon Now? not sure..? anyway, a friend wants one.. he tells me. that the black one is his Fav.. not jointed.. and he has them and can find more black ones,, but he also says that when the moon is bright he has better luck on the glow in the dark one.. but lost the one he had.. and he has had it a while and now can not find one.. he also says.. Only buy the original,, the hooks & the blade are screwed in.. He say that he can bend the blade on the original to get the perfect sound he likes .. never used um to much my self.. I know the bass bite at nite ,, but The couple times I tried it from the boat.. We used a small light and all we got was every bug on the lake was on our light like you know what..!! so have not done it much.. I am sure there are better ways to fish at nite but I do not know what they are ? Quote
Guest muddy Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Nothing better than a night time top water bite and Black Jitterbugs!! 8-) Quote
=Matt 5.0= Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 I think LBH recently became the nighttime J-bug authority. I tried for years, but he clearly has it figured out..... Quote
Guest muddy Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 It's hard to explain Matt but there is a certain groove you gotta move the lure in , just the right wake and gurggle and they are like magic 8-) Quote
guitarkid Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 speaking of gurgle, I saw in Bassin where they drilled holes in the blades and got better fish response out of them. -searoach Quote
Super User Tin Posted March 8, 2008 Super User Posted March 8, 2008 Both glow- in the dark jitterbugs that are 5/8 oz. came off ebay. You can find some really crazy ones over there. Quote
Nip-I-Daddy Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 At night, black is the way to go. Otherwise, I use either a yellow one or a white one. And I use the biggest size they have. Looks like a saltwater lure. I have a jointed one that's black, but haven't been as lucky with that one. Jitterbug is probably my third favorite topwater lure behind Heddon Lucky 13 and Luhr-Jensen's Nip-I-Diddee. Quote
