iFiSHMA Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 I am brand new to the site and pretty much bass fishing all together. I have a couple rods and a full tackle box, but no boat. Does anyone know of a place where I can fish from the shore in the Lexington/Bedford, Massachusetts area? Quote
UMass fisher Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 The cambridge water reservoir has some nice bass. My friend went the other day and caught 3 2lbs in about an hour from shore. There is a decent amount of weeds so you would want to either texas rig senkos or a nice frog works. Quote
UMass fisher Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 I forgot about the concord river. Has tons of good sized bass along with plenty of other fish. Quote
CRFisher Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 Cambridge Reservoir is off limits for fishing. They used to police it pretty heavily so I'd be careful. Charles River in Waltham, Watertown and Newton has some decent shore fishing. Concord River is good as well. Some OK shore access at the Mystic Lakes in Medford. Horn Pond in Woburn has some good access as well. For ponds and lakes mass wildlife has some pond maps with a description of them. They are all pretty old but gives some idea on what to expect. http://www.mass.gov/dfwele/dfw/habitat/maps/ponds/pond_maps.htm Quote
iFiSHMA Posted June 25, 2009 Author Posted June 25, 2009 Thanks! I'm planning to go to the Concord River as soon as we have a weekend without rain . Has anyone been to Walden Pond in Concord or Nutting Lake in Billerica? Those are two spots I'm also interested in checking out in the near future. Quote
CRFisher Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 Never tried Nutting Lake, meaning to check it out. Walden is generally packedw with the granola crowd and you have to pay to park. They've restricted some of the shoreline so there's not a lot of openings for fishing, except for the beach area, which will be off limits in summer. I've heard good things about the small mouth and trout there. The fishing at the Charles is going way downhill, it's overfished and people are taking everythign home, regardless of size or species. Had another night of diddley tonight. Quote
bronzeback01 Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 Yeah that cambridge rez is pretty strict, last time i got thrown out of there was by the guy that works for the cambridge DPW and he was escorted by two state troopers just incase i gave him a hard time. Lake cotituate has a lot of big fish and plenty of shore fishing. Quote
dallas0996 Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 I got nailed fishing the cambridge watershed too; didn't know it was off limits The Smallies in there were gorgeous and eager..... Quote
iFiSHMA Posted June 27, 2009 Author Posted June 27, 2009 Yeah I was pretty sure the Cambridge Reservoir was off limits but I have never tried to fish there anyways. I drove by Nutting Lake and it looked like a nice spot. Does anyone know if the only place you can fish from shore is off the bridge? It seems like private property all the way around. Quote
