Anyone been out on the big water at the Q yet? I'm heading out tomorrow, looks to be a good day for smallies but I was wondering if anyone knows the water temp out there?

Thanks guys!

I saw a report from earlier this week that said surface temps were around 56. I haven't personally been out there yet though.

Get out there buddy!!!!!!!!! :) By the way, what's your schedule like these days? I need a trip to GS! ;)

A recent post from another site:

Fished Quabbin on Saturday with my buddy Chad...what a mistake bringing him turned out be. We went in search of the coldest water we could find and found temps in low 50's. Within the first half hour we were doubled up, my fish a four pounder, his fish 5.8. on the blade. He switches to a tube and nails another 5.8. (yes I said another 5.8) I cannot get a fish to the boat and am ready to kick him in the nuts and throw him over, about a half hour later another tube fish at....6.2. Holy nuts the dude has over 17lbs of smallies in the live well and there is only three fish in there!!! These fish were so fat they looked like they were ready to burst! We moved around a little to get out of the wind and then went back to the same stretch and we both boat two more (small ones) one at 4.7 and one at 4.8, both on the blade. I can't believe I am disappointed to put a 4.8 in the livewell...it looked tiny next to the 6.2. We only boated ten total, only three fish under 4 pounds (of course those are the ones I caught!). The bite seem to shut down after the hard north wind let up. We were going to get it certified but didn't want to risk the health of that giant so we let it go to be caught again another day. Talk about being in the right place and the right time, what a day!! Chad is to never set foot in my boat again!! Scott

Twin 5.8's :)

Man, those guys had a heck of a lot better day than I did. My buddy Joe boated 1 smallie about 1.5lbs early on a tube, but I had to wait until 10 minutes before we left to get my 2 smallies, one a dink the other about 1-1.5. I think all 3 fish we got were still less than 1 of those other guys!

Keep at Mike you'll get-em sooner or later!

I've got a night time get together going on for GS in a few weeks. You should come w/us and take your canoe. You know you'd be more than welcome in my boat but the seat is already taken. Though, I do have another friend who has an open seat, he's a great guy and very laid back you two would get along great. Shoot me a pm and I'll give you the details.

Take care Mike and talk to you soon!

There wont be any more get together at GS. The town posted a sign saying 2 car Max parking at LS.

Wow, sad but good for pond! Thanks for the heads up Matt! :) Though, I fished another place yesterday that no longer makes the work to get to GS even worth it. :)

A few more recent Hawgs from the Q Mike............

I'd get back out there soon :) Considering renting a boat this Saturday or Sunday and fishing it myself. Unreal!
