Needemp Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Anyone know the conditions for KY Lake? Water temps, water clarity, rising or lowering? Pre, spawn or post? Thanks for any info. Quote
Aaron Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 I can tell you that the lake is UP right now. It's been raining almost daily for about a week. I think the rain is about done so they might start lowering it soon. I haven't been out on it much this year but there are some other locals that will probably be along soon to give some more detailed info. Quote
SINDBasser Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 This is a good site to get Lake info. I was there about one week ago and it was about a foot over summer pool, stained, and low 60's in the morning. Spawn should be on. Site: http://www.explorekentuckylake.com/lakesarea/fishing/reports.htm Quote
jeosbo01 Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 I was down there last weekend and caught several bass but they were all small. The water was stained and VERY high when I left Sunday. Water themps were in the mid 60's but the rains may have colled it back down a bit. Quote
bowfish12 Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 South part of the lake is up right now quite a bit. I found water up to 67.5 deg. Back part of larger creeks were stained heavily but I ended up fishing other areas of the creeks that had just a hint of stain. Depending on where you will be you can catch them in 6 in.-15ft of water. I've mainly been fishing bushes and the woods that have been flooded. Managed to hook up on a couple good fish in really shallow water just didn't land them. If you can get in the really really hard to get places you should do good. Oh, and the little males are everywhere, can't keep them off the line. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted May 5, 2009 Super User Posted May 5, 2009 We're expecting 2-4" of rain tomorrow on top of 4-6" last weekend. All the dams on the Tennessee River are "spilling until further notice". The water is high everywhere and will continue to be for the foreseeable future. 8-) Quote
Needemp Posted May 5, 2009 Author Posted May 5, 2009 Thanks for the info guys. With the reports of high water and having never been to KY lake, I will wait a little while to go there. I am looking forward to learning that lake, but with the higher water, everything I find on this trip would be dry the next time I go. I do appreciate the info, thank you. I'm gonna head to LOZ. fatmanslim247 Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 Hopefully everything will be perfect for this weekend, I'm going to get my college fish on with truffle. Everything so far, from what I have read, looks like it will be at normal pool, bass are bedding. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted May 7, 2009 Super User Posted May 7, 2009 You can check current conditions and projections on the TVA website and pull up specific reservoirs: http://lakeinfo.tva.gov/htbin/lakeinfo?site=KYH&DataType=All&submit=View+info 8-) Quote
