Kar Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Hey I live in Maryland and I fish at a lake in Centennial Park. It is located in Ellicott City. I was wondering if anyone else on this board fished here as well? Quote
fischt197 Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 I live in columbia and fish there all the time from land. There are some big fish in there if you can get on them. I landed a 7lb. 1oz. largemouth last year in the small cove by the dock/boat rental area. There was a tournament at Centennial last weekend. I wish I knew about it. I don't have a boat but I know my friend who does would have been down to enter with me. Quote
bobdogg17 Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 I went there today actually for the first time. Was forced to leave after an hour or so due to the pouring rain. I was fishing from the bank and only landed one small LM. Had about 4-5 strike though, just never took the bait. Any idea of where some of the better spots are from the banks? I'm thinking about heading there on a weekend and renting a canoe to reach more spots... Quote
Kar Posted May 6, 2009 Author Posted May 6, 2009 Yeah there definitely are big fish in there. I fish there about twice a week... more if I have time. On Saturday I landed a 5 or 6 pounder in the cove by the red bridge. What lures seem to work good for you guys there? Soft plastic lizards and frogs work good for me. Oh yeah I went to fish the day of the tournament and when I got there it had just ended. I caught my record bass that day too >... Oh well. Quote
basser89 Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 Welcome to THE boards Kar! Keep an eye out for the Maryland Who's who thread on this board. It gets updated from time to time. Check it out and you may be able to find a few more anglers in your neck of the woods! Quote
fischt197 Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 Kar, they will hit just about anything you throw at 'em there. Once the pads are up yum buzzfrogs work great along with buzzbaits. I was killing them saturday with a watermelon red flake yum houdini shakey head. I fished for about 1 hour on the opposite end that you were at and pulled in five. All small, no larger than 2 1/2lbs. It sure was killing the tourney boaters who were around me getting skunked 8-) Quote
Kar Posted May 7, 2009 Author Posted May 7, 2009 fischt, yeah Saturday was a good day. Maybe one day we could get together and fish the lake. I'm going this weekend but there are chances of thunderstorms... I might hit the lake early in the morning before the storms hit or whenever.. Saturday is too far away to tell for sure whether or not it will storm Quote
TheDaddyWags Posted September 12, 2020 Posted September 12, 2020 Any more recent updates/successes here? They offer night fishing which I may head up for tomorrow. Just curious if anyone has any insights. Always feel like I see lots of people around the park so prob a crowded/pressured fishing spot? Quote
