Banor Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 Marshall / Battle Creek Michigan here. I fish St. Clair and Erie alot though. Coldwater has 2 nice chains of lakes worth fishing. I'm about 25 minutes from them. If you are coming to SW Michigan to fish you should definately check out Paw Paw lake. Some real hawgs caught every tournament out of there. B Quote
Super User grimlin Posted March 11, 2009 Super User Posted March 11, 2009 I'm in SE. Belleville lake and Ford lake are my home lakes. Quote

Bauerus Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 Hi, I am stuck here in Belize and darn is it warm...been in the mid 80s all week. But got really really cold last night down to 65°F Brrrr Looking forward to hitting the lakes in Michgan later this summer when we head north again. Cheers from the jungles of Belize Quote
arthurspooner13 Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 I'm in SE. Belleville lake and Ford lake are my home lakes. Me and you both. I'm a big fan of what Belleville has to offer, but the boat pressure gets too high at times. I'm also a big fan of Ford lake. I normally fish for largemouths, but i've had some success with Smallies there. I'm interested in giving the Detroit River a shot this year. I've always shyed away from it in the past, but i'm really wanting to go after the Smallies it has to offer this season. I'm also looking forward to seeing how Iaconelli did on it - City Limits Fishing has their Detroit episode airing March 20th. Quote

I try to travel away from this area to fish! Most of my time is on the Great Lakes (Detroit Area). I just cant get enough of those smallies. B Quote
paragon Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 I've run out of reels to spool and boxes to organize. I don't think I can wait until the opener. I guess I could go out and buy some more stuff. Quote

Tetra Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 Fished the mouth of my canal; Anchor Bay, Lake St. Clair. Black and blue tube jig and rapala jerkbait. No fish or strikes. Went to Bald Mountain today in Oakland county, same lures, still no fish. Quote
ShearPin Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 I'm from the Torch Lake area...CABIN FEVER !!! Jus' got 6" of the white stuff UUUggghhhhhh... Quote
John G. Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 Thats no good about the snow! Not too long and you will be catching giant smallies one after another!!! On the Paw Paw Lake issue guys who have fished it they are trying to pass a weed treatment and dredging of the lake to stop the weeds from growing if you are concerned contact Coloma and Watervliet Townships to voice your opinion, Google them to find number. Paw Paw is one of my favorite lakes and it is a great lake and does give up some big fish but not EVERY tournament lol I have fished some tournaments out there that have been tough, real tough. However, when it is on it can be fun to fish, caught a 20 pound bag there last year and a smallie over 5 before. Biggest bass I saw in a tournament around here came out of there, a 6 pound largie. On the other side last year a 20 boat tournament took only 5 pounds to win so I would not drive a long way if you can get out on Kent, White, Muskegon, St. Clair, Saginaw Bay John G. Quote

detroit1 Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 Going out today for the first trip of the year. This time of the season i usually wait until the afternoon to go out (let the water warm a little), but i can't wait that long. I am so geeked i got up at 5am and couldn't go back to sleep. So, it's BR until i kill a little time. Got the boat ready yesterday, will probabally leave around 9am this morning. DINKS better watchout!!! mark Quote
Super User grimlin Posted April 11, 2009 Super User Posted April 11, 2009 Would anyone be interesting if i start a BBQ picnic up? Thought about doing this for awhile now. Might try to start it up next year or later this summer if I'm still up here.Somewhere halfway from everybody. Have it at a lake, everybody invited and try to bring little things.I'll bring the hamburgers and hotdogs.Hopefully already have grills where we might meet up. Kids, family, everybody invited. How's that sound? Quote

Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted April 15, 2009 Super User Posted April 15, 2009 The largemouth FINALLY moved into my canal. Now I can fish for them until I get the boat in the water, and start to chase those smallies. Falcon Quote
bass slayer21 Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 im confused about all of this stuff. I cant go fishing for bass even if im catching and releasing till april 25? Or can i just be fishing for "pike" and if a bass happens to eat my bait i just release it? Im just alittle confused b/c the dnr handbook is alittle confusing. i want to go fishing for bass this weekend but i dont know if i can. Quote
Scorcher214 Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 Well that's what the dnr guy said, even catch and release is bad. but if you wanna fish for "pike" and "accidentally" catch a few bass..... Quote
