detroit1 Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 Unfortunately - bass, pike, and walleye all fall into that "last sat. in april" routine. You can't say you were fishing for any of them before the 25th. You were just testing your new lure/reel/rod/practicing casting/whatever..... or you're trying to catch a new state record panfish on that dd22! Quote

jamarkwe Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Oh Man I can't wait!!!! Saturday I will be on Cass or Pontiac and fish until about 2pm. Then go home watch and see who the Lion's draft and then I'm off to maybe Orchard Lake til dark..... 8-) Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted April 22, 2009 Super User Posted April 22, 2009 I haven't decided just where I'll start out on Saturday. Of course The SNOW we got yesterday and The Snow we are getting Right Now probably isn't helping anything at all . . . . . : A-Jay Quote

Sfritr Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 I decided to forego the Opener and went for walleyes on the Saginaw river Sunday. Limited out in the rain AND I did catch a dink Smallmouth. Going out in ten minutes to Holloway. A cold day fishing is STILL better than working..... Quote

logger Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 Paragon, my opener lasted about 3 hours and consisted of rain, 49 degree weather, bad winds, and 3 hammer handle pike. So not the opener I had waited all winter for, but at least I got out and the boat ran fine. I boated my first 2 largemouth Wednesday night, nothing huge. Both hit a tube and were already in 2 feet of water. I was shocked that the water temp was already up to 55 here in Mio. Quote
paragon Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 logger I'm going to try again this year to make it up to Wakley. Do you remember when that lake opens for fishing? Of course my break job turned in to a whole rear end thing, but went real smooth. Thank god for neighbors with all the right tools and Fridays off. paragon Quote
jamarkwe Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 I managed to catch 4 LM and 4 pike all on my special 3/8oz spinner bait. I had 12 bites in the 3.5 hours I was out. All bites were in 2ft or less with temp ranging from 58.7- 60.8 I thought I had an ok day for the opener... That was until the freaking hurricane hit. But what sucked was after I re-tied my spinnerbait after every snag and pike. The storm came through while I was in a a small pocket that had a metal wall on one side. While hurrying to start up and head back to the ramp, the motor stalled and the wind blew my boat into the wall with my lure hanging off the side.... I didn't notice until my boat was on the trailer that my favorite spinner was gone.. :'( I post up a few pics in a bit... Quote

SMALMTH Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 Hey guys (& gals), I live in a small town southwest of Kalamazoo. I have 36 lakes within 6 miles of my house and several miles of river. I own a tunnel hull with a jet and fish the rivers 99% of the time. I did a little pearch fishing on St. Claire a couple weeks ago, but only managed to catch a couple hundred smallmouths. Must have been using the wrong color???? ;D Launched my jet for the first time the other night. The rivers around here are still very high and smoking fast. I didn't fish much, but I caught 5 largemouths on a buzzbait. Couldn't get a strike on anything else. Quote
