Hey, I've been on here since last season or so but I just recently moved to Rehoboth, MA.  I no longer have good public ponds right down the street, although I now own my own house with a bunch of land (and no water on it).  Looking around, there aren't many water bodies in Rehoboth!!  I have no idea where to fish locally!  I never even heard of Rehoboth until I bought a house there (well, just before I bought it, haha).  I work in Bridgewater, right near the Nip, but I'd like to find something closer to home.  Any local guys have any advice??  If you couldn't tell, I'm not from this part of MA!

On the plus side, my neighbor has a small farm pond that's almost all open water, and it looks VERY promising!!

The following is not an exhaustive list of ponds in Southeastern Mass, but it is a start.  Some of the info is old, but it will give you an idea of the fishing available in each pond, and a topo map showing its depth contours, and launching areas.

You'll find a couple of ponds in Taunton, but they're not far from Nip.  They are more interesting.  I tried the Nip once last year.  It averages about three feet deep and the north end is choked with vegetation.

What you won't find is Watson Pond which is across the street from Sabbatia.  No gas powered motors allowed.  I think you can use trolling motors however.

You can launch at the state park across the road from Sabbatia.  It's ok for a canoe, kayak, or car topper, since there is no real ramp.  You can back down close to the launch area.  If you have a carrier, you can walk in when the park is closed.

The fishing is pretty good.  It's a small pond.  On windy days, you can find a sheltered shore to fish along.

Definitely worth a shot if you have one of the aforementioned boats.

It does not have heavy fishing pressure simply because it is not convenient.

What kind of fishing are you looking to do?

Shore, boat ,trolling motor ,gas motor?

I live right down the road in swansea and know a few ponds in the area.

Thanks for the replies guys!! I'll have to check out Watsons pond. I've seen it on the map...just wasn't sure what the deal with it was? I did the shore from Sabattia last spring, on the early side, and had no luck, and since at the time it wasn't really in my neck of the woods, never went back.

I mainly shore fish(see avatar), trying to catch bass. I just like to catch em and let em go so that I can catch them again! My father in law lets me borrow his canoe sometimes for extended periods and I steal my parents kayaks when I'm not borrowing the canoe! I'd like to buy some sort of boat....but owning two quads, two lifted jeeps, and now a house limits funds for other toys!!

I try to fish the nip a lot but usually just end up wasting time there. No problem losing lures or catching pickerel...I'm not a fan of catching pickerel though. I hate having to deal with their teeth when trying to get my hook(s) back (I got bit when I was a little kid, haha). I mainly hit up smaller ponds and occasionally have some good luck. You got me interested in Watson! Around here it seems that the larger ponds have very limited areas to shore fish, or those areas aren't where the fish like to hang out.

I guess I should look into starting to do some brackish/salt water fishing now that I'm so close to the ocean, right?

It always amazed me that Rehoboth had very few places to fish. I spent alot of time out there this winter delivering, lots of cows... not many fish.  :)

dude, they JUST stocked the Palmer River with trout.  Get a permit though, this area is most likely has game warden presence.. and it's just good to get it. I think residents pay $18 for the year.  I plan on hitting this river up asap. Also I think the shad are spawning in Shad Factory pond any time now.. pretty cool.  That pond is only 1 of 2 in mass where this happens haha

good luck, have fun. Post pics I'm from down the road in Attleboro..there's quite a few good spots, i only fish from shore too and I get a few 5 pounders every summer.

Try Snipatuit and Long pond,  the road goes right between em and you can fish both from shore right there. Theres Marys pond and Leonard pond as well. On Lake st there is 3 ponds North, South and east lake pond. all can be fished from shore. There is alot of water down there in that area and I know there have been BIG bass caught from some of them!! Go to google maps  (zoom in on Rehoboth) and you will see them all just go do some exploring is the best way to find the good ones.

Is shad factory and shoe factory the same place??

What do you mean by permit for trout fishing??  I"ve got a MA Fishing license....I renew on-line every year (don't necessarily always carry it, but I pay up at the end of December every year for the next, one of the only times I don't mind giving the state a few bucks!).  I don't do much trout fishing as I usually fish ponds so just by default I don't often catch trout.  I guess I could start....

I found what I think is Shad Factory....looks promising!!  Also, my neighbor has a pond, maybe a half to three quarters of an acre like 100' off of the back of my property and apparently it's got fish!  Cha-ching!

Talking to another neighbor who's got a bunch of cranberry bogs....the supply ponds for the bogs are good!  I guess I should have thought of that!  He says I can ride my quad through there too, which is key.  Then I tried out some relatively new man-made pond in another neighbors property last night and I was getting hits.  All private property, but cool owners.  I guess the situation isn't as bad as I thought!!

Thanx for the ideas though!

In Swansea the pond behind the middle school (which is usually where I fish) is pretty good. There is actually anoter pond attached to it that many people dont know about that gets stocked with trout. There is also milford pond in Swansea, which I have had decent luck at, but It is not the easiest place for me to get into and out of with a kayak.

I will actually be behind the middle school around 9 am this morning (wednesday). Im always out in a blue kayak.

The Swansea Dam is stocked with trout.. I'm not sure about this other pond you speak of. There is the 2nd dam on the north end and connected to the south end is Swan Finishing pond. The only other place in Swansea that is stocked is Coles river and Lewin Brook.

I mainly fish Milford (have private access) last few days been getting into them good.
