Cabela's Deals???

Anyone know when the next deal comes out?  I got a thing in the mail last winter because I have a Cabela's credit card, something like you spend X amount of money and get X amount off of your purchase.  I just called customer service and they said they didn't know, but it may be a policy of theirs not to forecast it because it may prevent people from going a week before the sale and paying full price.  I figured the good folks at BR may have an idea?

Also, I received one of those giant hardback catalogs last spring, and in 2007-8 I've spent more money than I've ever spent at Cabela's (the store just opened up near me), but I didn't get one this year.  Apparently it's a lottery and some get them, some don't, regardless of how much you spend.  The representative offered to send me a catalog for 10 bucks, and I refused.  That sounds like a ridiculous policy, especially because having the catalog would probably make Cabela's a whole bunch of money since I'd be looking through it every time I pinch a loaf, which is at least once a day  8-)

First off go to the Cabelas site, click on FREE CATALOG, fill in the info and they mail it to you. I went this week and got the Bottom Line 2202 Fishing buddy, its an all in one depth finder unit, only good for trolling motor boats and row crat. Humming Bird just bought them out. In Dec. it was 179 I got it for 79!!!!!!!!! I have used them before and they are pretty cool

They have their older Fishealge rods The FEII reduced 30 bucks anf the XML reduced 80 bucks

Got the xrap subwalker for 7.29 ( it is 9.99 at BPS)

they have a circular when you walk in.

There's no option for the 1000+ page, hardbound, master catalog though.  That's the pearl I'm looking for.  Apparently Cabela's hires a publishing company to put it together and they run some kind of BS lottery to determine who gets them.

Anyway, I don't care all that much about that, but I'm gonna be buying a pontoon boat and a new rod/reel setup, and don't want to buy it now if I'll be able to save $100 bucks if I wait a week or two, so I'd prefer to wait for the sale.  

And Muddy, I'll definitely check out that depth finder unit - should be perfect for the 'toon  ;D

Oh, and Subwalks too.  I dont' want to get any, but I've just heard too many good things about them not to get some.

Tony: The hardbound goes to customers who spend a certain amount the year before, I got it once, THAT OPENED MY EYES TO WHAT I WAS SPENDING.

Hint: If you wait long enough ( Summer) and there are some left they will give it to you sometimes.

According to the Cabela's web site they are running their fishing sale now.  It says "biggest sale and show of the year"

I just recieved my Illinois Outdoor News paper and Cabelas has an add for Rapala Days March 1-16

25% off: x-rap shad,x-rap sub walk,DT fat 03,jointed shad rap, and tail dancer..

I ordered some tackle yesterday and asked about the sale and they said it was only at the stores..

So if you have a store near you it looks like you can get sub-walks for about $5.50

One thing I have experienced with Cabela's The stores will match the on line store's prices when they have a sale, but it dosen't happen the other way around.So if you are at a store and you know the online price is cheaper, then tell the sales person, UNLESS IT IS A CLEARANCE ITEM, they will look it up and match the on line price

Hey guys, thanks for the info.

Regarding the hardbound catalogs, I don't think it's based on how much you spend because in 2007 I spent about 25 times as much money as I did in 2006, but I received the 2006 hardbound but not the 2007.  Also, the customer service rep said it's some kind of lottery.

And fooman - I have a Cabela's credit card.  

You would think that considering the amount of money I spend there and the fact that I have the freakin' credit card, they could have the courtesy to send me a *&$%# hardbound &*$%#@ catalog, right?  

It's the principle of the thing.  I guess I can make another call and make a stink, but it's just not really worth my time.

Lastly, I will definitely check out the sale on X-Raps and Subwalks.  Sounds like a healthy little discount   8-)

At 1st I was told they were out and they sent them out at random..

Then AFTER I place an order they can send me 1..

What I thought was funny is they sent the catalog in a seperate box than with my order..

I do agree its the principle..

As for the discount I get them in my email every so often also

This is one thing that gets me pizzzed off. We all asked one of their reps the same question and we all got a different answer for a different reason. I wish they got thier stories straight.
