Rand Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 Going to Patoka Lake in April. First time there. Heard its a great spring time lake. Has anyone fished it? And has anyone camped near Jackson SRA Boat Ramp on the north side? Rand Quote
J_pontius Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 I've fished Patoka and caught plenty of fish out there. I just don't get excited about it when people talk about it. I know I'm about to get a ton of stones thrown at me in a bit, but I think it's the most over-hyped lake in the state. I've fished patoka in april and it's pretty good up by painters creek. If you stay on the nothern fingers west of there they are all pretty good. Pointer 100's, Green/chartruse spinnerbaits, and good ol black and blue jigs and you'll do just fine. Bang the crap out of the spinnerbait on all the timber. You may even burn a rattle trap in any color other than red. They see 100 red rattle traps a day down there in april! LOL! And don't be afraid to go shallow. Quote
deadeye32. Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 my only advice I can give you on Patoka is to fish shallow like Pont said. For some reason, I am always suprised that the fish are as shallow as they are early in the season there. Quote
Rand Posted March 20, 2009 Author Posted March 20, 2009 Thanks Pont and Dead Eye. Appreciate the info. Keep it coming Hoosier Anglers. Rand Quote
