Bassnajr Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 Well.... I guess winter is here for good. Went down to the local pond to de-stress and throw a few lures. The whole shoreline is frozen, not thick, but enough to screw the pooch. Don't know if I'll make it 'til spring. That BR road trip is looking good!!! Alan (bassnajr Quote
Cousin Vinny Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 I know what you mean Allan. I got back from vegas sunday and decided to do a little fishing down here but got the same results. Hard water. But things have moderated a little now and I think I'll try a local resevior tommorow (Thanks Giving day) figuring no water company people would be around. I'll let you know if I catch anything or get arrested, LOL Quote
BUCKEYEone Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 I'm 0-3, thin layer of ice on all the ponds I passed by on my way to work today! Quote

Captain Rhino Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 I'm 0-3, thin layer of ice on all the ponds I passed by on my way to work today! I'm 0-6... :-/ I'm fishing ponds, but nothing has been working for me. Quote
Super User bilgerat Posted November 27, 2008 Super User Posted November 27, 2008 Not frozen here in Jersey, a little surface ice early that melts off quick. Gonna hit it as much as I can between now and Sunday. I am getting pretty good at Hooked on Fishing on the Wii though. (even though my 12 year daughter whips me at it consistently). Been about three weeks since my last fish. Can always go for some nice pickerals in this weather. Quote
Cousin Vinny Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 Unfortunatly Tin I woke up late and the "honey do list" was too long to over come. I noticed your from an area I know somewhat. I know you dont do much fun fishing but have you ever fished that little pond on Hopkins Hill rd east of 95 near the gravel pit?? My wifes cousin lives just up the road from there and I always wanted to fish it so he took me last summer. I caught my first pickeral there a number of LMB. Nothing big just fun stuff Quote

HOIST-N-HAWGS Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 Hey Alan, I here ya! I know I wasn't quite ready for this crap! Florida trip in the works for 1/5/09, 6 days of fishing the soft water Quote
Bass Dude Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 I feel your winter pain!!! The water isn't completely frozen up her yet, but the fishing is dead. I just put my boat in storage---put it off as long as possible!!! The worst part about winter is that I have 4 new rods that I can't use 'til spring. I guess I'll try for some winter Steelhead in the Oswego River. They're big and fun, but still not a bass !!! Quote
Tokyo Tony Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 New England SUCKS. I'm not changing my mind until April. Quote
CPT Scrap Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 im glad i leave maryland on friday, i move to texas. Then i can fish all winter long Quote
Jig Thrower Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 o i feel the pain if i could fish out of the bath tub and catch fish i would Quote
Ineedanewscreenname20170204 Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 I feel your pain man! I went several times to the local park lake and tossed around a spinner bait to the few open, un-frozen, spots. Mostly just getting the hang of my baitcaster reels - just started throwing last year in earnst. My neighbors think I'm crazy but I just need to get out... Quote
BassFishingMachine Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 Oh I lost my sanity awhile ago... ;D ;D ;D :D ;D ;D ;D :D ;D Quote
zbass Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 I'm still sane. Last Saturday i went to my favorite tackle store and cried for two hours over all the pretty baits that are sooooo lonely. Then went and drove by the lake and cried for another 1/2 hour because I couldn't see water. Only blowing snow. All the trees are dead, the geese have flown south, etc, etc. Then I came home and was gonna work in the garage, but it was 9 degrees. that's okay. I really don't NEED fishing to maintain sanity. Did I really say that? OMG! I must be worse off than I think. I'll move to Texas and I'll fit right in. :D Quote
MaineBassMan Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Don't get me started, we have a lot of ice left on our lakes. You know how many time I have gone out and had a beer while sitting in my winterized bass boat. I actually went out side and practice flipping and pitching into pockets in the snow bank Quote
=Matt 5.0= Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 50 degrees on Sunday, open water down the street. I'm there. Quote
BassFishingMachine Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Ooh Ya! Got 9 bass today on a small rapala huskyjerk. All dinks, but I could careless. Also got a crappie. Fished the rapala really slow, "jerk jerk 4sec pause, jerk jerk 5sec pause" etc. You really had to watch the line, all but 1 of the fish I caught was from paying attention to the line and noticing it slightly twitch, or tightening up barely. Meaning 90% of the fish hit when the lure was paused. Quote
