puddlejumper Posted July 12, 2007 Posted July 12, 2007 I have been spending most of my time on Yellow Creek, few Large Mouth and Northerns (they love a Red Spinnerbait) and Keystone, Mixed bag of Large and small mouth. I will be trying a new lake this weekend, will keep you guys updated. Between the weather and the lack of rain fishing right now is not my style. I like to fish lay downs and ledges only shore. Quote
Lard_Bass Posted July 15, 2007 Author Posted July 15, 2007 Welcome aboard puddlejumper! Where do you live? Quote
puddlejumper Posted July 16, 2007 Posted July 16, 2007 Indiana County, tried Mahoning Creek lake this weekend, Great structure, no fish. Only caught 1 large mouth on a hula popper. Tried everything in my box, and every color under the sun. Wonder if that cold front coming in the night before slowed things down. Quote
Lard_Bass Posted July 17, 2007 Author Posted July 17, 2007 Quote Wonder if that cold front coming in the night before slowed things down. It usually does. I still fish even if I know I have an uphill battle. I may head up to Lake Arthur this weekend. Recent reports have been decent: http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/07194/801433-358.stm Quote
puddlejumper Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 I am actually fishing a tourn there tomorrow night (If it doesn't storm) Quote
JBox3 Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 Hey all... First post. My name is John, I'm from Johnstown (yeah, I know, it's MY town), and I am just about fed up with the bass around here so far this year. I really do want to hit Yellow Creek, though. Haven't been there yet this season. I guess Donegal would be worth the trip too, then (if it ever stops raining)? Quote
puddlejumper Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 Yellow Creek has been alright. Have you been to Glendale Lake? If you want to make a day of it, Lake Author by Butler. Quote
Pittsburgh Reeler Posted July 30, 2007 Posted July 30, 2007 Hi John- I'm from Johnstown originally. Maybe we know each other... anyway, welcome aboard. Yellow Creek treats me right (well, from shore anyway) but its been slow. I use plastic worms there, mostly. Caught 2 largemouths at Edinboro this weekend for a tournament! YAY! That is a nice little lake, lots of limits caught during our tournament and quite a few bigger fish. Fun has H-E-double-hockey sticks! Quote
HPBB Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 fsihingpunk, how did you di in thet tournament out of the south side? I was down fishing the Yough river sat, just up from Boston, saw a few jet boats that ran up from Pittsburgh in that tournament. fishing was good, only fished about 3 hours, had things to get done so only had a few hours to fish. caught 3 nice small mouths, 2 about 13-14 on torpedos and one about 15 on a tube jig. Quote
Pittsburgh Reeler Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 I didn't do so good. A few yucky dinks, a lot of lost jigheads, and too d**n hot. :'( My boater was nice, though. Quote
BASS fisherman Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 I can't catch any decent fish this year for some reason. Tons of dinks and only a few over 2 lbs. Nothing really picture worthy. I need to get my boat on the water finally. Quote
HPBB Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 Well, was going to hit the Yough again this sat, but with all this rain, there is noway I will be getting on the river :'(. Have to wait till Erie next week. I am having a hard time waiting :-[ Quote
BASS fisherman Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 Hey HPBB, look for a call in the next two weeks. I have a good bit of money saved and when I have some time I am heading up to Boaters world to get some essentials. Probably this evening. I still need a charger, a battery for the accs. and the motor, a throwable device, and a hitch for the van. Me and Dad re-covered the boat seats, and I'd like to replace the carpet in the boat too. I also need/want a new winch, a new jack for the trailer and also a spare tire for the trailer. This winter I want to shine the boat up so it looks like Jim F's, almost new again. As well this winter I'd like to get the motor tuned up. I went out this morning and spent $60 bucks on tubes for Erie. Ouch!! Gotta buy in bulk! Quote
flyhatch Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 $$$Sixty Dollars!!$$$ Man thats alot of tubes. I am going to presque isle sunday i am sure i will be throwing a tube or two. Quote
BASS fisherman Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 150 tubes to be exact. 3 different colors too. And I still need a few more colors just to have the bases covered. Quote
BASS fisherman Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 And the funny part is that all I went in the store for was a pack of jig heads. Walked out with a bunch of other stuff too. Quote
flyhatch Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 yep your strung out like a research monkey just like me Quote
Pittsburgh Reeler Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 BASS Fisherman- You are making me nervous that I don't have enough!!! I'm not tryin' to make a last minute to run to the store. You better not have bought out Outdoor world cuz i was stopping there before the meeting! Quote
BASS fisherman Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 Don't worry FishingPunk, I really don't get out to Outdoor world ever. But if you are talking about Ultimate outdoors on Rt. 286, unfortunatley I did buy all their #13 tender tubes, and #13 BPS flipping tubes. I told them they were out and that was a week or so ago, so they most likely will have more by the Erie tourney. I also bought the rest of the best colors at Lock 3 B&T too. Sorry. If you can't find what you need though let me know and I'll hook you up. It isn't that you don't have enough, the problem is that I have WAY to much!!! Quote
Pittsburgh Reeler Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 yes, that is what i was talking about, my mistake. i'll check it out tomorrow. im heading to gander tonite- my favorite lucky fishing sandals broke over the weekend- don't ask. i got a gift card yesterday! yay! Quote
BASS fisherman Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 FP, I dropped by Allegheny bait and tackle Sunday and they have some tubes in a small clearence bin that are a good Erie color. They are the same color and size as the BPS #13 tender tubes, but are a little transparent. They had atleast 3 packs and they were selling for $1.99 each. I did not buy them but really wanted to. Let me know if you need some tubes, I have way more than I need. Quote
Pittsburgh Reeler Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 Thanks, man!! I got a whole boatload of that color but they are flippin' tubes. I caught some largemouths this weekend on them. i don't think i will be running out to that other place. gander tonite and that other joint before the meeting. then i am done!! I think... :-? Quote
BASS fisherman Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 From what I hear, those tubes will catch em up good in Erie. C-ya at the meeting. Quote
HPBB Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 Erie was great. Had a 3 fish limit ( that is what it is in Pa on erie for tournaments) for 12 lbs. with a lunker of 4lb 14 oz. caught a lot of keeper( 15 inch) Sm out there on green flippin tubes fishingpunk, sorry we coudln't go west sat. Jimmy said you caught a bunch in the shoots, just like like sat, just no keepers. Wish you could have gotten that 5lb you had on sat. BASS fisherman. How did you do? You left so fast I didn't get to talk to you. you get anything out in the lake? Quote
