Well after a great walleye trip last sunday on the allegheny, my partner wants to give moraine another go today for bass.

We finally launch at about 930 am after finding some soft water.

its about 32 degrees and pretty calm, water was about as clear as it gets at moraine. bottom line after throwing everything we saw in our boxes we ended up fishless agian. The excitment for the day was when my partner, somehow dropped his Quantum PT Tour Edition 7:1 Burner Reel and Fenwick rod over board. After a quck swipe at it with my own rod, I quickly looked at the bank and noticed that we were inline with a tree, then i glanced at the Lowrance and noticed that we were in 9 feet.

I tried running a deep diver as did he but to no avail.,I then changed to this huge treble topped with a big egg singer, after a couple snags that I got free, I came thru and had a $200 plus combo hooked and we landed it.  :o

Im thinking the allegheny and the walleye next week.

Its like fish in a barrel. :o

Wednesdays and Sundays are good for me.

I am sure a 16 footer would be fine.

I still got your number.

I let my buddy keep all the fillets even though i love walleye.

I live so close if i need some Its like a minute from my house.

but a boat makes its a little easier.

keep me posted,

Dang.......I love walleye too, but I don't eat anything I catch from below Parker. You ever been to Petrolia, Pa? They got vents sticking out of the ground there to bleed off some of the toxic waste fumes from the ground water, and a nice little creek there that runs right down into the Allegheny. Not to mention all the sewege plants from Parker on down.

I catch the heck out of 'em down Hamar too, but they all go right back in. You got guts, for sure.

I generally dont keep them, but I am not scared of a few meals here and there. people have been eating them for years, and the river is alot cleaner now than in years past.

I went yesterday for an hour or so.  I hit a spot on the Freeport pool, right under the Freeport bridge.  Lookin to catch a walleye or two, but only got snagged.

I'm not sure I know what a fish looks like anymore...its been too long.

So I'm going and taking refresher course....in Florida.

Cant wait till next week, racing, fishing, and more fishing.

A week down there, I might not make it back.....

Have fun in FL, Ichi.

Well, I went to Peters on Sat. for 45 minutes. Not a bite before it started raining. So, in the meantime, all my money is going toward re-stocking: Gore-tex suit, St. Croix rod, new tackle bag, new crankbaits and plastics, hooks, travel airliner tube for the rods, license... all my Xmas money and pay is funding next year's season!

By the way, peeps, there is a $10 coupon in the PA fishing rules book again this year for Dick's. here's how you really take advantage: if you have a VISA Check or Credit Card, see if you can sign up for Visa Extras or Rewards. Go to Giant Eagle w/ your Advantage Card and charge a Dick's Gift Card so you get your gas points and your VISA points. Hopefully, you have gotten or will get a Dick's Scorecard and get the $10 certificate for your points. Even if you dont', make sure you have your Scorecard so your new purchase is eligible to keep adding up those points. Now THAT'S how you can get the most bang for your buck! Oh well. I have changed my display name so it will match my website and such. When i get my website done, I'll give you the address so you can see it. Later!

I just wanted to stop in and say hello, I am live in Washington, PA and am originally from West Newton.

I fish the Yough a good bit and will fish Cross Creek, Cannonsburg Lake as well as Little Chartiers, Pike Run, and Dutch Fork Creek.  It's nice to finally find a forum that has a thread dedicated to SWPa Fishing.

welcome   i have family in pittsburgh and my brothers wife is from Washington   i seen that u fish creeks?  i seen some nice ones when i am visiting my family  i was wondering if u fish for bass in them or whatever   once again welcome to the forums

Thanks for the welcome.

When I fish the creeks, it's usually for Trout as they are more trout streams.  However, Little Chartiers below the dam at Canonsburg lake hold trout, smallies and sometimes largemouth.

For the creeks, the species you fish for will be dependent on the portion of the creek that you fish.

o ok  i was just wondering   i figured they were just trout streams but i really like fishing creeks for bass so i was thinking if they were bass streams maybe i should take my rod down with me when i go    well thanks

I was out the weekend before last and caught a nice LM around 3# on a bucktail jig.

Don't ask me where though, cause I ain't tellin'! :o

Our club has a tournament this Sunday, so I'll post here how we did.

And BASS I know where you were silly, you were fishing Loyalhanna lake getting ready for your tourny this weekend :D

You only know that because of Pittsburgh Reeler.

And no, it wasn't Loyalhanna where I caught the 3# LM. :o

You still looking for a rider for MR. Bass?

Only 4 people caught fish, and only one had a limit.

Water temp was 30 degrees at launch and rose to 43 by after noon near dam.

Lunker for the day was 5 lb 15 oz.

I was fishing with a guy who for my cold water style, was going way to fast.  I had it explained to me once that just because your older and have a boat doesn't mean you know how to fish.  That was the case as far as I could tell.

I didn't catch anything but sticks all day long.  I didn't even get one single bite.

As far as Lisa, all I know is she didn't have a very good day.  She didn't catch any keepers either.

Oh well, Crooked Creek this weekend.  Then the week after that we are fishing Berlin in Ohio.
