Jig Thrower Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 i know it is fall and the fish are on the move looking for a last good meal for the year, but i can't get a bite. i throw jigs, senkos, crankbaits, and even went to the last resort the twister tail jig. i used to be able to catch anything with that even a crappie while bass fishing not anymore. i can hammer the fish during the summer on a 95 degree day with the sun in your eyes but not now when the fishing is supposed to be decent. once again i realize the fish may be on the move but not even one little 10 in largemouth has been hooked by me any advice would be greatly appreciated. Super User Grey Wolf Posted September 28, 2008 Super User Posted September 28, 2008 Where are you fishing and what are your conditions ? Quote
Jig Thrower Posted September 29, 2008 Author Posted September 29, 2008 i have been at pleasant hill lake and the conditions have been almost perfect, but yesterday the wind was out of the north and pretty windy, any other day has been picture perfect, but no fish Quote
Mark Anthony Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 I fish in the northeast. When the water temp.s are in the 60-64 degree range I prefer jerkbaits over rock and boulder main lake points when the wind is up (spinnerbaits/rattletraps too). When it is dead calm I like a spider grub on the same structure. When water dips below 60, I look for bait pods and spider grub/drop shot/silverbuddy/spoon vertically. Kicker largemouth around the last green grass/pads. Good luck let us know if this helps.----------Mark Anthony Quote
BUCKEYEone Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 I live midway between lima and columbus and fish local lakes (indian lake, farm ponds, great miami) I was out on the 1st and got maybe one bite on a crank near shore, but I think I landed about 8 total largemouth between 1-3 lbs within two hours throwing the rage tail craw, texas rigged. I would just work it at an angle about 5-10 feet from shore and they wouldnt stop hitting that thing! That was my best two hours of the year! Quote
farmpond1 Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 You might've unlocked the secret by now (hope so) but if the wind is out of the North, fish the southern banks and especially the points and steep drop off areas. The wind will push baitfish in that direction and the warmer water will be pushed to the south. Crankbaits are a good choice to cover a lot of water and simulate shad/etc. Good luck Quote
