I've noticed much lighter bites since the cool nights and had to slow down jig presentation dramatically(almost to the point of setting the pole down). Switched to a carolina rig on 6lb. flouro(glass beads by the bullet weight) and wacked em' pretty good last saturday.I'm going to keep working the carolina rig for a while. Also the morning bite seems almost non existant, things pick up around 9:00ish.

I have noticed that the fish seem to be spread out a lot more this year then they were last year. I am mainly talking smallmouths though. I got a nice 5 Ib 11 OZ largemouth Sunday in a great smallmouth pond, but couldnt catch a smallmouth to save my life. The fishing has been a bit strange lately.

We have been fishing the same lake for about a week or so..

For the most part we would catch fish in one or two areas.

Sat. I caught about 7-10 LMB in one area all ranging in size...

Sunday I went with my buddy (hence we) to the same lake and caught about 5 LMB out of another area of the lake...

We were fishing from shore though I bet if we were on a boat we would have probably caught more...

Though there were a few days/times of each day where we had no hits at all.

You're absolutely right it is off.  About a month to two months ago I was freakin killin em with 20 bass days and good sized ones too.  Now I still catch some bass but I can't get consistent bites until dusk, and even then its not like it was a couple months ago.  Oh well I hope it picks back up when the fish realize they have to fatten up for winter!

Thanks I was hoping it wasn't me.

I am catching fish in new areas b/c the bass aren't where they were last summer.  Probably due to high water too.

Most of the fish have been dinks too

It's been slow in Mass, hit 3 ponds today (Horn Pond, Upper Mystic Lake & Spy Pond).  Nothing except for one LM that was less than 6 inches caught on a white spinnerbait by the trailer hook.   Pretty much been slow for a month.  Did get one niced sized LM last week, but it's been about one or two a day only.

I can take you to a local pond where we for the most part have been having luck on decent size LMB...

Tokyo or whom ever is closer to SW side of CT

I'm down in Westport. I'd love to find a new spot if you dont mind shareing.

I've also noticed the catch to be off quite a bit. Last Saturday we fished a local resivior and did badly so I went to a local pond I've been doing very well at. But on that day, I dont think i even saw a crummy sun fish let alone a LMB.

Usualy I've been pulling 18 inchers out of there but nothing at all lately.

I fished a small pond today during lunch in Pound Ridge N.Y.. I was between job sites and couldnt resist. Beides, I did paper work all week end and felt i deserved it.  ::D

In about a half hour I caught 4 LMB.

No killers but they ran from 10 to 14 inches. (I gotta buy a scale)

Compared to only a week ago when I fished my favorite private pond, today was great. I was consistantly pulling 16 and 18 inchers from this place and then last week.....nothing at all. I think the lack of rain and heat was getting to them. I would believe this rain fall helped, but I could be wrong

I had a sweet program that predicted best times to fish based on the lunar cycle...

It is a free program and was very accurate..

I would be depending on it throughout this week if I didn't end up deleting it...

I will probably hit a place or two depending how much time I have.

If I catch any thing decent (and remember my camera) I will post..

This summer has been the worst of the last 5 years for me. So far I haven't caught half of what I got last year.

This year, there has been more rain followed by high pressure, blue bird sky days.

Mid July to Mid August was the best period for me, so far.

I really think the spring we had screwed up the fish real good. It took forever for them to spawn because Monday through Thursday would be highs in the mid 70's and somewhat warm nights, then the weekend would come and it would be a cold 50 degree rain and nights would be in the upper 30's low 40's. This went on for a while and it screwed up the spawn. Since then I have noticed that a lot of the clear water fisheries have either been on fire and it takes a big bag to win or they are shut down and it takes 4 pounds to win. Don't know why but just something I have noticed. Stafford and Amos are examples of this. Where as the stained water fisheries have been consistant as always. So who knows, it's New England.
