Super User Marty Posted March 3, 2008 Super User Posted March 3, 2008 I have a few and I think they're good lures. They attract fish and are easy to get the zig-zag action you want from a walking lure. However, I don't use them often for no other reason than I don't use walking lures that often because I'm so into Jitterbugs. But when I do use the walkers, it's these or the Super Spook Jr. Go for it, you can't go wrong if you like to walk the dog. Quote
Shadcranker Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 Awesome bait. Much easier to walk the dog with this than the original Spook or the Sammy IMHO. Size of the bait and finish really does a god job imitating threadfin shad around my area. A++ bait. Quote
Super User Bassin_Fin@tic Posted March 3, 2008 Super User Posted March 3, 2008 Its pretty neat looking, and I'm sure will get the job done.I havent caught anything on mine yet.I havent put enough time into it yet,I think.Im too much into my spooks usually. Quote
BASS fisherman Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 I have a good 15 of the Heddon Spittin Image lures. They have a different action than sammies or spooks do. They have a rolling action as they walk. I like to throw them at night and want to fish a walking bait. They are also good when you want a little more action from a walking bait. You can pop them out of the water to make it look like scared forage to a bass. But the fancy stuff is tricky to do with any measure of consistancy. Quote
Cory20 Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 i really enjoy those guys too. you can really get them to walk, splutter, and flip out of the water. smallies love em too! Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 My deadliest "twitch" bait. I don't use it as a walking bait, strictly a twitch bait. I too, like Marty, have been all over the Jbug so much that other topwaters are playing second string lately but the image is up there in my top 10 for sure. Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted March 3, 2008 Super User Posted March 3, 2008 Great lure for smallies in rivers too! Quote
Super User Bassin_Fin@tic Posted March 3, 2008 Super User Posted March 3, 2008 Question:Which size are you guys using???The spitn image or the JR. I got 2 of the jr size but havent put much time in with them yet. Quote
Guest muddy Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 Got one Jr for ponds and a few of the larger ones for the lakes Quote
jrhennecke Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 I ues the jr sized ones on the river over the weeds when the tide is up. Quote
GitRDoneIke23 Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 AWESOME LURE!!! I'm the kinda guy who finds what he likes and sticks to it. This is one of my top baits!! Quote
GobbleDog Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 In calm water my goto topwater bait is the Zara Puppy. But if there's a light wind and I feel like throwing a topwater, the Spit'n Image Jr is the bait I tie on. I've caught countless bass with it, but I don't care so much for the bigger sized Spit'n Image. Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted March 3, 2008 Author Super User Posted March 3, 2008 ok this sounds like a good bait. i might pick one up if i see one (dont think i have). so is it more of a walking bait or does it have lots of other attractive action (jumping splashing diving popping etc) that other walking baits dont have? Quote
GobbleDog Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 is it more of a walking bait or does it have lots of other attractive action (jumping splashing diving popping etc) that other walking baits dont have? Walk it some AND then pause it is how I use it. And throw in a couple random twiches here and there. As with all topwater baits - shorter pauses in choppy water, but MUCH longer pauses in calm water. Low_Budget_Hooker Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 I use the regular size but wish they made a bigger one. Quote
Big-O Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 I like the way they walk and fish like them too. Quote

Sounds to me like you just gotta play with it,just like any topwaters, thats what makes them fun sometimes.Rod position, length of pauses, over all speed, length of twitches, and amount of slack put in the line, all give a different attitude. I was messin with mine this morning ,and I kinda like it,pretty cool. I didnt get anything on it though.I couldnt put a topwater bite together today to save my arse. :'( Quote
Infidel. Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 I use the regular size but wish they made a bigger one. X2!!! I can't get touched on the jr. but the full size in the Pumpkinseed pattern is my #1 producing topwater. Quote
FivePoundBluegill Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 I have the spitin image jr, the poppin image jr, and the swimmin image. I have been able to catch a few bass on all three but do not use them often. Quote
