hey everyone,

I've spent the last few days reading the archives and really enjoy your site so far. I have fished all my life for just about anything that swims but my focus for 20 plus years has been flyfishing mostly for trout.

I have just recently bought a boat and trying to get serious about bass fishing. I fish the Meadowgrounds, Cowans Gap, Juniata river, Augwhick Cr , Raystown. I've only fished these spots a couple times by boat. I also plan to go east and hit Codorus, pinchot, Redman etc.

Looking for anyone that wants to share some time in my boat. I have the time but I dont think its wise to fish alone in alot of these places. So if anyone has any interest just let me know.

Also I am amazed at how many times the meadow grounds was mentioned in the archives. I remember 20 years ago it was crystal clear when I fished it from shore. Now it is seriously tea stained. Is this recent or related to the draw down. Actually caught a couple nice smallmouth there last month to my surprise.

Thanks for all the info you share here. I have a 14 ft Jon boat with a 8 hp merc , a minnkota trolling motor, and an evinrude trolling motor. Most importantly it has 2 comfortable seats.

One question I've always wondered about the meadow grounds is how deep is it? I will probably be spending a fair amount of time on it as well as the Juniata, and some on Raystown.

I've already learned alot on here, cant wait to learn more. I also am set up with 2 med heavy trolling rods with line counter reels and planer boards. Now I just need to log some time learning to use them.

Thanks in advance! ;)

Welcome to the boards pafishslayer!

I fish some of the waters you have mentioned as well. I was actually at Cowans Gap over the weekend (faired so so there). It's been about a year since I actually had a chance to fish MG (Meadow Grounds) but I'm hoping to change that soon! There's a tournament there in September I'm hoping to make! There are a couple of other guys on here that fish the same areas as well. Hopefully, they'll chime in too!

Again, welcome!

Welcome PAFISHSLAYER!  You mentioned Pinchot / Redman. As far as I know I'm the only one that makes lake structure maps of these lakes and feel free to PM me for my site info. I have never made it to your area of South Central Pa. but as for now I'm covering from Snyder to York counties for 2008. (BIG stripers lurking in Redman).

thanks to those that have replied so far. Bass Brat, Im not to sure about being generous. I just get tired of looking at my boat and nobody to share it with. Plus I could stand to learn a few things as well.

I have nothing else to do as I await kidney surgery this fall. That is why I dont usually fish alone. Not to scare anyone away lol, Im ok, just not supposed to do anything stupid or extra strenuous for now.

I am very interested in the tournament at the MG's in Sept. Not that I'll be a threat, but it sounds like a great opportunity to meet some good folks and learn some more about this lake and have some fun. Thanks again guys and I look forward to hearing from more folks from this area.

Thanks again

Welcome!  I live in Mifflintown which is right on the Juniata River.  I also fish some of the lakes that you mentioned.  As a matter of fact I am hoping to be fishing in that tournament on Meadow Grounds with Basser 89.  I am on a layoff from work right now, and my son goes back to school next week so maybe we arrange to meet at one of those lakes and do some fishing.  I have a 2008 nitro Z7 so it could also be your boat or mine, pm me and we can try to set something up.  I also know some other guys that post on here that are always up for a fishing trip, maybe we can get a group togther to fish somewhere.

WELCOME!

I have fished all the areas you mentioned but Redman. I just bought a boat, and I get my drivers liscense soon, so we'll have to do some fishin together. I know some killer spots on the Juniata and Cowans Gap. Matts idea of getting all together and fishin souns good also.

Wow, I just started with this site and am amazed by how many members are in my area.  I live 30 minutes from both Redman & Marburg.  I'm fairly new to the area and am still knocking the dust off of 10 years of minimal fishing (darn career, marriage, and small kids) but if anyone needs a partner for the day I'm in.

Mid 30's, professional something, and a flexible work schedule.

Cool!

Sounds like some future fun fishing. Let me see if I got this right. Basser89 and Mobydick are brothers and mjhutch is your cousin or fishin partner? Between the 3 of you you should definitely be able to exchange notes and figure a place out. Hittin Cowans Gap or the MG's tomorrow or maybe both. Will let you know how it goes.

Yep, Mobydick and I are brothers and mjhutch is our cousin. I fish a handful of tourneys with Dad to (so you could say we're a fishin family!  ;D ), although year I've had some bad luck and haven't been able to fish any of the MG tourneys so the one in september will be my first.  :-/  Good luck with either or both lakes!

Welcome to the boards IAMNTXVAPA! Haven't had the opportunity to fish Redman before and it's been about 2 years since I hit Marburg last. Challenging lake to say the least!

I don't want to steal the thread but recently I met a wonderful lady from Cashtown. I'm from Pittsburgh. Since she knows I like to bass fish she took me to Codorus last weekend. I did a little bit of fishing from shore where they rent the canoes. I didn't have much luck. I was wondering where some good starting points would be. I do have a small boat, 14ft. v-hull, 71/2 hp. Is it a limited hp power lake? Any help would be great.

Oh, dont worry.  This is being tucked away in the mental notes....

I will be at the next MG tourney.  Cant say how well I will do.  I have been bitten by the "big bait bug" and it is becoming increasingly difficult to put the swimmers down.... :(

Ah, Muddy's in trouble now! LOL!

Keep that "bug" away from me! I'd have to get a second and third job to battle that one! LOL! If everything keeps going the way it is, I'm in for the MG tourney too!

pafishslayer,

I just recently moved to York, PA to finish up school.  I am about 5 minutes from Lake Redman and DYING to do some fishing.  I haven't found anyone up here who fishes, and shore access at Redman seems poor, although I have not explored all of it.

If you ever need a fishing partner on Redman, shoot me a PM!  I fish for anything that swims.  I don't have my full assortment of tackle up here but am geared up enough for smallmouth and largemouth.  Would be more than willing to split gas/launch fees/lunch/drinks.
