ep3moshcini Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 Hello, im new to this web forum and would like to say hi. I'm not new to fishing, but as of recently me and my girlfriend of 3 years have been getting kind of serious with our fishing. I have a few Shakespeare rod's, my newest is an ugly stick I just got today and we both have our own tackle. but were not finding many good places to fish. we are in central mass Worcester county. Her father has a house on the lake in Shrewsbury and we fish there every other night and early mornings on the weekends. What im trying to ask is there any real good spots to fish? I grew up in northbridge and you could get some small bass and pickerels, but nothing to write home to mom about. sorry for the noob questions and rambling. but if you have any suggestions for us please post them up! Super User Gatorbassman Posted August 9, 2008 Super User Posted August 9, 2008 Welcome, let's just start you at the beginning. It's where I start every year. Go to the top of this page and click on Fishing Articles. Then Click on the For Beginning Anglers section. Start reading. As you are reading you will find that you have plenty of question. Write them down and then come back on the forums and ask away. I can only remember one dumb question that has ever been asked on this site so don't worry about asking anything. This site is the best there is when you are just starting out. You will quickly notice the improvement as you participate here. Good luck and keep your line wet. Quote
Super User Muddy Posted August 9, 2008 Super User Posted August 9, 2008 Hello and Hey if you are fishing UNDER BRIDGES in Mass watch out for falling Kennedys Quote
Diablos Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 Hey My in-laws live in Shrewsbury and I fish there a half dozen times a year. Are you a boater or shore fisherman? Try Lake Chauncy in Westboro you'll have access to fish either from shore or from a boat there. If you have a small jon boat you can try A-1 site(stump pond) in Westboro. Good luck!! Quote
CRFisher Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 Not sure how much I trust the state to tell me these things, but they do have a best bet for bass page on the mass wildlife site. http://www.mass.gov/dfwele/dfw/dfwbass.htm I personally mostly fish the Charles River since I grew up a block away and now live 5 minutes away. I've been meaning to get out and try the Wachusett Reservoir, but haven't made it out there yet. (It's a haul from Watertown) Quote
dallas0996 Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 I live in Northbridge now, and have had great success on the ponds in that area; just this year I have pulled multiple LMB in the 2 lb range out of Whitins Pond in addition to the 6.5lb. LMB I got mid-june. I have also hit a 5.5lb LMB, 4.5lb. LMB and a 3lb SMB out of Carpenter Res. in the last few weeks in addition to multiple 1-2lb LMB. Not sure if you are still in the area, but it's been good for me! PS. these have all been caught from the shore...I am the "idiot" in the blue Tacoma that shore fishes with baitcasters Quote
Masshole Mike Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Check out Whitehall Reservoir in Hopkinton, it's exit 21 off 495. Quote
WTRDOG Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Go to the Cape ,the ponds are loaded..... : : Quote
Tony Lopez Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 Quabbin reservoir is a great place to check out. The spring fishing there has caused me to call in sick about 10 times this year alone... Quote
