JCrzy4Bass Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 Anyone around here? I found out I will be staying one night a couple roads away from the "City Reservoir" and plan on fishing it on a Sunday morning. Can't find any info about this online. Is there shore fishing? What kind of fish am I looking at? Looks like a huge reservoir. There looks like there is an access road so I'd imagine you can fish some areas from the parking lot. Can't get a close up satellite view so I don't know about it's surroundings. Any help would be appreciated. It's in Cambria County. Quote
plnoldrick Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 better make sure its not private. alot of reservoirs in PA used for drinking water etc are private. there is a lot of wasted water in this state. Quote
JCrzy4Bass Posted July 18, 2008 Author Posted July 18, 2008 Rick, I always check. Can't find any info online so I may need to drive there and check it out. That sucks about them being private, reminds me of my area in va. Every pond here is privatized by the county. Retarded. Anyway, thanks for the heads up though. Quote
plnoldrick Posted July 19, 2008 Posted July 19, 2008 99.99% of the time if you look at the lake on google earth and you cant see a boat in the water or no launch it's a no go. you got some pretty good replies in the other thread about altoona. i'd hate to see you come to the great commonwealth of shitsylvania and get locked up for friggin fishin. And just remember, if you do decide to sneak into some of these places dont wear any traditional islamic clothing. The hillbillies out that way "guarding" those no name reservoirs from al qaeda's grasp might not be so kind to you. To bad you werent gonna be out there a little longer. i was gonna take the boat out to price gallitzen on either mon or tue. always room in the boat with a railroad schedule... Quote
JCrzy4Bass Posted July 19, 2008 Author Posted July 19, 2008 Hey Rick, I'm not the type to sneak on. If it says private it's a no go for me. Unfortunately the reunion got moved 20 30 minutes away here in ebensburg. I got some good info from speedbead and will be shore fishing at Lake Ruwane for 3 - 4 hours one morning next weekend. Got some good info on it as well as far as what to throw and where to work. If anyone else has info on Lake Rowena and or has fished it recently please let me know. Plan on bringing some topwater basics like Buzzbaits, rage tail shads, sizmic toads. Also bringing up some senkos, jigs, and a couple key spinnerbaits. Quote
RobbyZ5001 Posted July 19, 2008 Posted July 19, 2008 Yellow Creek isn't far away. I would suggest fishing there. Quote
JCrzy4Bass Posted July 19, 2008 Author Posted July 19, 2008 How far we talkin' Robby? Are there any smallmouth here? Is it in the city or outskirts. Off of what road? Quote
plnoldrick Posted July 19, 2008 Posted July 19, 2008 i would say yellow creek is about 10-15 miles west of ebensburg. there are smallmouth there too. look on mapquest or something and follow route 422 to the west. you shouldnt miss it. if you want smallies in that lake you best stay to the north shore, the south shore is real shallow. there is along trail that gives access to the dam area which is good from shore. lota pike in yellow creek too. Super User Sam Posted July 20, 2008 Super User Posted July 20, 2008 Jason, Are you talking about the Ebensburg just off Route 22 and then Route 422 towards Indiana, PA as you cross Cresson Mountain? This is the way we go to visit my wife's family in Indiana, Penna. There is a big pond in Ebensburg. You can't miss it. It looks like a nice place to fish from the shore, too. You can't miss it. Just look to your left as you get off Route 22 going into the town. It is before the first red light. We usually do not stop in Ebensburg other than for a few times to shop the antique and junk stores. I have never fished the pond. But the pond looks nice. I know there are some lakes up that way but I never fished them. Be sure to double check about a Penna. fishing license. Have fun and PM me with your results. Quote
RobbyZ5001 Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 Sam it is exactly the place you are talking about. You have a great memory! That big pond is stocked with trout. Quote
Super User Sam Posted July 21, 2008 Super User Posted July 21, 2008 Spoke with brother-in-law who has an office in Ebensburg and this is what he suggests regarding bass fishing in the area: Yellow Creek State Park which is about 15 miles towards Indiana on Route 422. Turn off Route 422 West towards Indiana and turn Left onto Route 259. Stop at the Park Office for suggestions where to fish. Wal-Mart on Route 22 in Ebensburg sells weekend fishing licenses. Yellow Creek holds bass, bream, bluegill, walleye, pike and maybe some muskie. Go on-line with the Pennsylvania Fishing and Boat Commission for more details about Yellow Creek and other fisheries in the area. Have fun. Quote
plnoldrick Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 this is a bigger file (209kb of yellow creek) but i marked a couple spots in red circles to fish from shore and marked the creek channel in magenta? now personally i like to fish deeper water dragging jigs, drop shotting, and crankin so thats what i marked, i dont know if your ok with that. if you go there i think sticking by the dam and the coves close by should do you right and then theres always the spillway and the tream below to fall back on. Pittsburgh Reeler Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 If you will be in Ebensburg, you can't pass up Glendale Lake (Gallitzin). Its pretty close. Quote
