nboucher Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 I will be staying in Eastham on Cape Cod next week, and will probably bring a kayak. Anyone recommend good bass fishing on that part of the Cape? I see most of the ponds are primarily trout fisheries. Thanks, Norman Quote
Masshole Mike Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 check out lake wequaquet in barnstable, i hear there's some nice bass in there. never fished it but a couple guys on here have and have pulled out some nice smallies in deeper water. i think it's a pretty big lake, too, might not be suitable for a kayak on a winday day. also might be a little more of a drive than you want to make from eastham. http://www.mass.gov/dfwele/dfw/habitat/maps/ponds/pond_maps_sd.htm check out that link for a list of lakes and ponds on the cape, i'm sure you can find a few close by that have some bass in em. good luck! 8-) Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted July 22, 2008 Super User Posted July 22, 2008 I dont know about the fishing, but you can stop by the Cape Cod Aviary and say "hey" to my cousin. LOL He is the head veterinarian up there. Good luck in your quest, Norman!!! Quote
nboucher Posted July 22, 2008 Author Posted July 22, 2008 Hey, Speed, birds are another passion. So maybe I will stop by. Where is it, and is it open to the public? Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted July 22, 2008 Super User Posted July 22, 2008 Hmm...Let me see if I can find you some info. I am not quite sure, to be honest with you LOL Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 I fished mashpee-wakeby pond a few weeks ago, that's where I got sick tho so be careful,.....I caught the "swimbait" bug,lol Long pond is an underground aquafier that runs the length of the cape, surfacing in multiple towns. I have fished it in 4 different towns and always did very well. I especially like the section in S Yarmouth, off turtle cove rd. Would make a nice place to yak. I also plan to hit the Cape next week and visit my sister, perhaps I can get us out on a friends bass boat if you're interested, but if I know you, it's all about rowing and paddling with your family. Let me know though, i fyou're interested. Either way, you guys have a blast!!! (A great family right there folks, Norm's daughter is a peach and his wife SAVED THE DAY on the BR roadtrip by shooting us to Logan airport on a phone calls notice, great people.) Let me know if you want to hook up bud, it's been too long! Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted July 22, 2008 Super User Posted July 22, 2008 Its called the Cape Wildlife Center. It appears to be more of a rescue/hospital than a facility w/ public visitation. I will send him an email to see if there is any type of interaction potential. Quote
Ifish4keeps Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 yeah i have had great success on Lake wequaket and also a pretty good sized pond called hathaways pond which is very close to wequaket. Quote
nboucher Posted July 22, 2008 Author Posted July 22, 2008 Russ, thanks for the kind words. I married good; not sure my wife can say the same, though. I've been way too busy working on the house, so a break will be good. I'd love to get out with you next week if we can work it out. I'm curious about the swimbait obsession and would love to get a demo. I'll have my cell with me. 781.413.4408. Give me a ring if it looks possible. Quote
masssilversrt4 Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 I'll be down the Cape Friday/sat/sun and most likely will have my Bass boat.. I'll be staying at Scusett beach.. If anyone wants to join me let me know.. Quote
