cwh4th Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 I'm heading up from Virginia to fish Lake St. Clair in early August and will be launching from the Elizabeth Park(sp?) area. I have never been to the area/lake and could use some help. I would even be willing to call by phone if anyone could offer any help. It is a long way to drive w/ boat in tow when you don't know anything about the lake or area with gas prices like they are today. I would appreciate any help anyone is willing to offer. Quote
Uncle Leo Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 I found this site to be useful when I fished St. Clair, hope it helps. http://www.marinecruiser.com/chart/html Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted July 10, 2008 Super User Posted July 10, 2008 Elizabeth Park is actually on the Detroit River. If you want to fish the lake there are a number of launches on the lake instead of making the run down the river first. Falcon Quote
cwh4th Posted July 10, 2008 Author Posted July 10, 2008 I am probably going into the Lake, but would consider the river also. I just don't know much about the area. Any way I could give you a call to pick your brain a little. Quote

jenga Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 I was out on the bay last friday. It is going to be tough fishing. You will have to find weed beds in about 10 to 15 FOW. I caught most of my fish on a watermellon with red flake tube using a 3/8 jig head. I only caught 3 smallies in the bay nothing over 2 lbs. But I did catch a huge Largemouth near the base using a texas rigged lizard with no weight. I have heard that the good smallie fishing this time of the year is in deeper water. I have also heard good things about windmill pt. and the firecracker in the summer. Hope this helps and Falcon hope all is well. Jenga Quote
Ranger520 Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 I live in Fair Haven and Anchor Bay is pretty slow in August, your best access to the lake is from launching at the boat launch by Selfidge AirForce Base (not on base) on Hall Rd. (m-59) or at the end of South River road (Harley Ensign) they are actually on the lake. These Launches are about 30min north by car from Detroit along I-94 Quote
Wildbillb Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 Check the FLW site. They were fishing out there last week. Quote
