basser89 Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Sorry for the short notice! I just found out as I was heading out for lunch that tonight, Little Seneca lake is having late night fishing. Just wondering if anyone might be heading out? Wish I would have found out sooner! I would have brought my boat to work! Looks like it will be some shoreline fishing for me. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted June 18, 2008 Super User Posted June 18, 2008 Sean, not being from your area....isnt it normal to be fishing there at night? Is it one of those sunrise to sunset areas? Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted June 18, 2008 Super User Posted June 18, 2008 speedbead, yeah the lake is ~6am to sunset only then the park closes. They hold a couple night fishing events each season. You get to fish until midnight then everyone has to be off the water. Its a very heavily fished lake, I have not done a night fishing event there yet but have heard they are very productive. Quote
basser89 Posted June 19, 2008 Author Posted June 19, 2008 Yep! Brian is right on! 6 to sunset. The majority of the lakes that I fish in MD are like that. It really stinks because I grew up fishing all night with Dad during the summer. To the best of my knowledge, there's only one lake that I fish that you can stay on all night and then there's the river which I really don't like to do. I don't need to bust up a prop! Anyway, just got home a little while ago. I hit two different areas this evening. I managed 3 on a spinnerbait in the first area and then 4 on a jitterbug on the last spot. Had a been completely prepared (with my headlamp included) I would have stayed longer. I'll be ready for the next one! I'll post the remaining dates as soon as I get them for those that are interested. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted June 19, 2008 Super User Posted June 19, 2008 I will look it up, but if you have it is there an address that I can mapquest? Quote
basser89 Posted June 19, 2008 Author Posted June 19, 2008 All ya need to do is Google map Black Hill regional park. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted June 19, 2008 Super User Posted June 19, 2008 All the midnight dates are Wednesdays. August 13th September 17th These are the two remaining dates for late night at Seneca Quote
basser89 Posted June 19, 2008 Author Posted June 19, 2008 Ya missed one Wayne! There's one July 16th as well. More than likely, I'll have the boat down for the one in July. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted June 19, 2008 Super User Posted June 19, 2008 LOL, yep, you're right. For some reason I looked at that one and my mind associated it with yesterday's date. Too much work, not enough play time Quote
Super User Munkin Posted June 20, 2008 Super User Posted June 20, 2008 Every year I tell myself I am going to fish one of those nights and never do. Maybe I can make the July one this year? Allen Quote
basser89 Posted June 20, 2008 Author Posted June 20, 2008 Hey Munkin, I'm in the same boat! LOL! I've been fishing at Black Hills for several years now (even before the started the night fishing deal). I've said it over and over I was going to fish them and never have until last night. Quote
Bassaholic84 Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 My best times at black hills have been at night. My buddy used to live in a house not far from the little section of the lake where the road crosses it near the boat ramp. We used to sneak in there at night and fish and we would bang em out. We would go to the same spot during the day and wouldnt catch nearly any. The bass arent used to being caught at night and are a lot less skeptical about biting i would HIGHLY suggest fishing those night dates. (or just sneak in haha) Quote
basser89 Posted July 14, 2008 Author Posted July 14, 2008 Ok, well at least here's a couple days notice this time! LOL! Night fishing at Black Hills is Wednesday July 16th. I'll be out on the lake this time! Not on my boat, but at least I'll be on the water this time! Come on Munkin! You know you want to make the run down to Montgomery county! ;D Quote

I remembered you saying about possibly trying to make the one in July. As to why they have to do these in the middle of the week, I have NO clue! LOL! You'd think they'd make alot more money (boat ramp fee) if they'd have it on friday or saturday night. Go figure. At least the fishing should be fairly good with the full moon coming up! Quote
basser89 Posted July 17, 2008 Author Posted July 17, 2008 I ended up doing some shore fishing this evening. My partner had something come up and couldn't make it. I started out trying to fish the one area that I fair well at earlier on in the year but it didn't quite suit me so I moved down to my stand by area down by the boat ramp. Surprisingly, I had the whole area to myself! Started out fishing a spinnerbait and managed a small keeper on a Rattlehead spinnerbait running it just over top the weeds. Shortly after the sun went down, I switched up to top water. I found this one spot that's rather shallow and filled with muck. Out of curiosity, I tied on a Spro Bronze Eye frog and made a few casts. I managed a 20 inch 4lber out of there! Its the first hook up I've had on the Bronze Eye! Once I get the picture downloaded from my phone, I'll post a pick. Did anyone else make it out? If so, how did you do? Quote
tuxdaddy Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Man I miss fishing Black Hills !! Glad to see you hooked into a good one while doing some night fishing !! Hughs to Miss Brylee for me !! Tux Quote
basser89 Posted July 18, 2008 Author Posted July 18, 2008 Thanks tux! I was wondering where you've been! Here's a pic of the 4lbr I caught on the Spro Bronze Eye frog. Sorry for the quality of the pic! Only had my cell and it was starting to get a little dark. Quote
tuxdaddy Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 I'm still kicking !! Just working like crazy is all, and working on the honey-do's ;D... Looks like a pretty healthy specimen there !! Congrats on your good luck.. Quote
Super User Munkin Posted July 19, 2008 Super User Posted July 19, 2008 Thanks tux! I was wondering where you've been! Here's a pic of the 4lbr I caught on the Spro Bronze Eye frog. Sorry for the quality of the pic! Only had my cell and it was starting to get a little dark. That spot looks familiar Tomorrow I am going out somewhere just not sure where yet? I was going to hit Rocky Gap or Black Hills but my partner bailed so I will stay local. Allen Quote
tuxdaddy Posted July 19, 2008 Posted July 19, 2008 I'd imagine the weeds are pretty well matted by now right ?? Quote
basser89 Posted July 19, 2008 Author Posted July 19, 2008 Allen, that one is no secret at all! It's the backwash area behind the boat ramp. tux, surprisingly the grass isn't real bad yet. I'm actually waiting for the grass to come up higher so I can fish a technique or two that I like fishing there. Even the grass at the stick ups hasn't choked out shore line fishing yet. Quote
tuxdaddy Posted July 19, 2008 Posted July 19, 2008 Dang !! Thats a surprise !! If memory serves me, it usually pretty well matted by now, but hey enjoy it while you got it.. ;D Tux Quote
