FishGuitBeer Posted May 16, 2008 Posted May 16, 2008 I live in the corner of Morris Co.,where morris, sussex, and passaic meet. I got the Newark Watershed reservoirs in my back yard, Hopatcong 10 minutes away, in other words, no shortage of fishing waters, but when I have to catch a LMB, the little slimy no name pond down the road never dissapoints. Got 5 out of there last night in about 20 minutes, no monsters, but bass none the less. Quote

FishGuitBeer Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 Do you have the NWDC fishing permit? That's where I spend most of my time. Quote
Sharkbite Posted May 24, 2008 Posted May 24, 2008 Hi I live in Phillipsburg and I am always up for fishing with a new fellow. I am getting a jon boat for the river this week. So maybe we could go together some time. Quote
jerseylargemouth Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 hello everyone, im new to this forum and just recently picked up bass fishing again. im 28 tommorrow and im getting one of those 10 ft pelican boats once i take the boaters test june 11th n 12th. i live just outside atlantic city and am always looking for places to fish and people to fish with. its funny but i find more bass in little retension ponds then in most of the bigger lakes. if anyone lives near me id advise a trip to the shoppes at smithville, across the street from the shoppes in the secondary parking area there is a small pond and man i can guarantee ull catch fish there eerytime u go mostly little guys but im sure there are a few monsters in there. JerryC Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Do you have the NWDC fishing permit? That's where I spend most of my time. Im not sure i do.. i have a NJ fishing permit and a boating license if that helps lol Quote
FishGuitBeer Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Unless you went to the NWDC office in either Newark or Newfound land and plopped down 50.00 for the permit..................you don't have it. Quote
Countryjoe07 Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Hey guys, I'm new here. Bergen county representing. I've fished Lake Hopatcong, Pompton Lake, Monksville, Delaware River...but usually I go to some local ponds near where I live maybe some of you have heard of Ramapo Lake? You have to hike a mile or so to get to the top where the lake is. Usually do a canoe or inflatable raft since a lot of the fishing I do you have to walk through some bush. But I don't have one at the moment so I'm fishing mainly from the shore.... Quote

DJFISH Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Hey guys.. another Jersey guy here. Mainly fish Aeroflex, Blue Mountain Lake, Musconetcong, Saxton Falls, Swartzwood, and some other small spots in the area. Quote
njbassfreak Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Im a NJ guy . But I fish all local stuff, small ponds/rivers, in and around Union County. Don't go out to the big lakes too often, but occasionally I'll go with my friend (since he has a boat), and check out Hopatcong, Spruce Run, Monksville Reservoir etc. To tell you the truth I prefer my small local stuff, frankly I catch more fish at them :-?. where around union county do you fish? im in union county too and im usually all alone out here..lol Quote
NJstixx Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Hey all, newbie here....Yep from Jersey (Union County). I've been a saltwater guy for last 10 years, fluke and stripers mostly... The expense of the fishing boat and gas as well as the family obligations and other interests (golf) have recently cut down on my primary fishing routines... I've been in my house for a 11 years with the golf course and park 5 minutes away...Saw some kids with fishing rods walking down the street last year and asked where they where fishin...they said the local pond. I'd been there and never thought much about it...asked what they were fishin for and they said "bass". I was in disbelief, but they said there were plenty of bass in the pond.... On an off day a week ago I decided to take the dog and a rod down to the park and toss a few in...caught a tiny blue gill and then 6 small bass! I mean pretty small...maybe 10 inches tops, with most smaller...but d**n I was impressed..I relaxed, enjoyed the day and got some action..and then...got the bug.... I hadn't been freshwater fishing 5 times in the last 30 years...I had some gear but was cluless as to what rigs etc...I should use...I went with worms and bought some Berkley gulp nightcrawlers...been back 3 of the last four days as it's a five minute walk from the house...the dog loves it, and I've been catching fish each day and enjoying myself. Figure there has to be some bigger fish in there and have been practicing very rusty technic not expecting much...and enjoying the hell out of it...I'll be back tomorrow for an hour or so, funny how time flies....
