Perfect Hook Set Posted June 14, 2008 Posted June 14, 2008 This was my 1st Cabelas I have ever gone to... It was an hour long ride with the family. Pretty big though I believe there was MUCH more hunting then fishing. So if a bass pro shop was in the area I would have probably went there instead... Plenty of reels A lot!!! of rods more rods then reel and lures I believe... They didn't have as much varieties of lure/soft plastics as I thought they would. I was looking for bags of northland slurpie dip sticks (senkos) but, unfortunately they didn't have any. An employee helped me out quickly even though I had 2 questions: 1 - if the head any northland slurpies 2 - If the had the pfl. president combo in a bigger size reel with a medium action rod Most of them seemed like they had at least the basic knowledge of fishing and fishing gear. Unless I go in that direction for more then just Cabelas I don't see my self going back... or Unless I plan to buy a lot of items To me I could save the time traveling along with gas and just spend the money on shipping costs... I took some pics of the Aquariums and will post them in a couple of minutes... If you have any questions please ask. If you have been to a bass pro shop and or another Cabelas (along with this one) please compare it to the Cabelas here in CT. Just a few Animals of EH Cabelas Quote
macmaster761 Posted June 15, 2008 Posted June 15, 2008 if ur ever in the area of boston, the bass pro in foxboro probably has what ur looking for, the place is huge and i know it has a TON of plastics, check it out if your in the area Quote
fishtosoothe Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 luckily for me i have a Cabelas 5 minutes and a Bass pro shop 15 minutes from my house, Bass Pro does have a much better selection of fishing gear vs Cabelas, if i had to choose between the two, Bass Pro would be my pick. The only problem i face is decent places to fish. Quote
macmaster761 Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 hey what type of fish is the second fish down? is that a carp? Quote
Perfect Hook Set Posted June 18, 2008 Author Posted June 18, 2008 not sure what it is isnt a carp though Quote
masscj7 Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 I frequent the Bass Pro in Foxboro and the Cabela's in CT. I have found that the selection in Bass Pro has been better, but the people not as outgoing and a little harder to navigate. Cabela's seems to be better laid out and marked, I tend to find what I'm looking for much quicker at Cabela's and the employees always seem to engage me first, where as at Bass Pro I often have to search for someone and then have to make the first contact. That appears to be a Bowfin to me as well (though, the ones I have caught around here have a large round spot by their tail). In Western PA, there are several lakes and streams that have Bowfin present. Quote
Tokyo Tony Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 I live 10-15 mins from that Cabela's, and although it's definitely the biggest and best fishing store I've seen, I've never been to a BPS. Cabela's usually has what I'm looking for, but not always. You can't beat online shopping for the obscure stuff. By the way, I have a crush on the 5 lb smallie in the tank - I'm waiting for the right moment to tell her :-* Quote
