yea sounds good  i will go with u  just tell me when u want to go                       roots  hmm i dont remember fishing roots alot on creeks  but minnows should work    on the rivers i fish i look for a deeper shoreline and BIG trees right beside the river   usally the roots are under the water and u cant see them  i will use craws and beaver baits around them on a really light weight trig   these trees dont only offer the roots but also offer shade from the tree branches

cool  there are alot of roots in wills  im sure we fished some  idk for sure   yea ok  thanks for the tip  for rivers    i know of some spots like that i fish from a tube float on the raystown branch

where are the roots in wills?  i know that there are some fallen trees below the pit but other than that i dont know of any real timber in the creek.  of course i only fished it once lol   i was just curious  i would like to fish some of the roots in wills  because the rivers i fsih   root systems  definetly produce big hawg smallies

remember fishing cooks mills at the train trussel but we fished up stream?  well the next two holes down stream are all roots on one side   there are some roots right below the pit   a few spots actually  not way down by the camps but up farther  i dont remember if we fished them or just went down to the timber    there are some down by the border but the creek is alot bigger there and i doubt that we fished any of them    at the camps between hyndman and fairhope at the bulldozer road there is a long shoreline of roots  there   i dont think we fished there either   i actually only fished there once so yea i know u didnt fish there

well i was reading your post on skirt grubs   i dont have any and was wondering if it is worth buying and any tips on them

o yea  they are ok  they catch fish  i like em  they are deadly for rivers like the raystown  im hoping for the bass to be bitting tehm on the poto.  well i like a 1/4 or 3/8 shaky or football head jighead  rig it just like a extarnel jighead for a tube   bury the head into all the tencles    i like them alot for gravel rocks  riprap and any bottom contour changes like mud to a rock bottome   they are very straight forward   u can either just shake em on the bottom and let the tencales shake or u can hop and bounce it  alot like just a single tail grub   to tell the truth it doesnt matter what company u buy from  the only difference will be the scent and the durablity of it   i like gary yoto. but pick which ever one u feel like.    the best colors are green pumblikin, junebug and pumblkinseed

ebay has a good many deals on them

Posted

o ok thanks man  yea i found a deal on ebay  10 of them i think  4inch  but it comes with 4 1/4 ounce jigheads  so im goin to buy  a pack and try them    have u ever fished them at raystown?   or a creek?

Posted

yea  few times  i mostly fish shallow flatter water which isnt key sitiuation for the grub   i like deep shorelines when or cliff rocks createing really deep water   i use it alot like a jig   i sometimes call it my river jig     im actually using it throughout may   im goin to be definetly using it at the poto  then mostly like at the sushanna  then ill probably throw it alittle on the raystown river   so  yea  its good at times    i will show u how to use it when we go to wills in june   i dont know how it will work in a small creek but we will see  lol

lol  yea i like to fish them parellel to dropoffs and ledges   they are ok in bolders   just fish them and will will figure out how they work   i will show u better techinques with them when we go to wills  its hard to explain excaltly the tips on them  i will show u

hey whats up buddy  im good   how are you?  aaa fishn gets on about twice a day just so u know    are u talking about the small little craws he bought of ebay    well im going to assume thats what u are talking about  take a 2/0 hook and a small 1/16 or 1/8 ounce weight and trig it  throw it out let it sink then just slowly bounce it off the bottom  u can also just cast it out and just bounce it in one spot but that is very hard to do if u are not in a boat   last u can texas rig it with no weight and let the current take it down stream  use light line and a spinning rod if u are going to just drift it

Posted

o ok cool

hey whats up smallmouth im fine

yea excalty what smallie said  i will be throwing them into fallen trees  i use larger 4inch craws for dragging

yo smallie  im going to wills tomorrow trout fishing  i cant wait!!!

Posted

yea  get a 3.5 or 4 inch craw   the number one bait for smallies are crawfish  so yea  3.5=2/0 hook  4=3/0hook   just so you know  if i was u i would get 4inch craws and 3/0 hooks because i use 3/0 hooks for alot of my baits  so this will save u from buyin abunch of different hooks

Posted

well i agree with fishn but if u have already purchased 2/0 or 3/0  buy which ever size accomdates the hook size  so that u dont have to buy matching hooks for new baits  just buy baits that go with the right hook that u already own

haha  shut up punk   lol   so are u fishing wills or one of the other creeks down there tomorrow?

yes i love finess worms i catch my biggest smallies on them my favorite is a 4inch powerworm in pumblikinseed they are alittle pricey for beggineers but they catch fish everywhere i fish for a larger worm i like the strike king 3x finess worm they are ok for both of them i use 3/0 worm hooks the 3/0 is alittle big for the 4in powerworm but it doesnt hurt the action and actually increases hook up percentage just carolina rig or texas rig them and they should produce for u

o yea smallie  im going down to try out my waders to make sure they dont have a hole in them and my dad needs to get his stuff so that we can go fishing up at erie for steelhead later in the year    i think we are going to go fish gladens run   the stream that dumps into wills below cooks mills   then on the way home we are going to fish the feeder stream of the upper raystown branch called breast works for native brookies

Posted

o ok   yea i use them on smaller rivers like raystown branch but  for larger rivers the fish dont hit as well   u got to work harder  and fish much slower  when it comes to larger rivers i like fishing around rock or rock piles with a shaky head and shaky worm  u can just take a finess worm and put it on a shaky head  and just let it sit on the rock

yea sounds like a great day  i wish i didnt have work today or i would have went trout fishing too somewhere around my house

yo smallmouth  i fish sometimes when there is no ice on the rivers around here   i do ok on finess worms just dead sticking them in deepwater   also if i want to cover alot of water i use singletail grubs like the mr twister but since u fish from shore  the best option is throwing on a finess worm on a jighead and just letting it sit with a twitch everyonce and away   good luckk  u will need it for these time of year

Nice fishn. Well i didnt get anything but to tell you the truth, didnt really try.... the water was about 2 feet higher then normal and the current was crazy! I had to walk with my mom because she was walking my dogs so i didnt get to fish very long. But who cares, today i got to go to cabelas with my friend! haha i spent 80 bucks on lures, mostly tubes, some flukes, finess worms and a lot of hooks. It was awesome
